David Jiricek! 2022 Top NHL Draft Prospect!

How’s it going fellow Detroit Red Wings fans? The Detroit Red Wings unfortunately didn’t move up in the draft, but didn’t drop down any positions. So they will be selecting at 8th overall. With that being said let’s take a look at defensemen who could still be on the board and might entice the wings into selecting him!

Take a look to see what we think!

  1. Only way I can see this is if Yzerman looks at his options and is like… I don't have a top 6 forward. Right hand forward is a need, and as much as I've been frustrated with Hronek's weak defensive play this year… He can get stronger on the puck. The D is a want.

  2. If the wings #1 need is a Center then I believe Steve has no choice but to trade up to get that piece not doubting his draft selection by any means but we need a guy to step right in and I don’t believe that player is there at #8

  3. Already have a looming log jam of defenders in the prospect pool. I don;'t think that knee injury will scare off too many teams, unless it is chronic condition. For Steve to consider Jiricek he has to decide how the other defensive prospects are progressing and right now the situation looks good for the present tense.
However I think if Matthew Savioe is still available Jircek will be quickly eliminated from consideration for their #8 pick

  4. Detroit's future defenders shape up to look like this:
    Edvidsson Seider
    Wallinder Hronek
    Buium Cotton
    ————————–‐–‐——-
    Johansson Lindstrom
    Walman Tuomisto
    Mcissac
    Viro
    Sebrango

Detroit's main focus in regards to drafting should be drafting forwards, especially a top 6 Centerman. That is where Detroit's main holes are in their depth chart. They could definitely use a player like David Jirick. However, this will probably be Detroit's last opportunity to draft a top 6 Center inside the top 10. So this is a very vital possibly final opportunity for Detroit to draft an elite Center this upcoming draft.

  5. Draft candidates are assets and not necessarily linear candidates to make the big club. We need centers but if that potential top six guy doesn’t seem to be there, take the best guy available. Plus look at trade options to grab a center from another club. Or grab Lekkerimaki who seems to bring a unique skill set with his shot.
