Recap of Wild vs Stars Game One

The double OT game felt like it could have gone a lot longer with such great goaltending at both ends of the ice.

  1. Weird game by the refs for all the reasons you mentioned. KwikTrip Suter got away with a big cross check on Kaprizov. That pissed me off.

  2. Fans: Please start the game earlier we want to sleep
NHL: From next season all games will last exactly 24 hours

  3. I was rooting for the Wild, but I get the feeling the Stars win with a healthy Pavelski.

  4. It was a clean hit man and then Max Domi jumped Dumba. If anything it should've been a power play for the Wild.

  5. I’m upset that the refs didn’t allow Domi respond to the hit. It’s such a common reaction but we he does the status quo he’s out of the game

  6. Half of the building leaving feels like an exaggeration from someone there. But maybe just my section stuck around

  7. Let’s see… round 1 last year for the blues has the first three games start at 930est. 2 away 1 home

    Vs Colorado

    930 930
    8 (at blues)
    930 (at blues)

    Welcome to nhl scheduling.

  8. My problem with the Pavs hit, is 1. Dumba clearly is looking to hit high there, he doesn’t go low, and the only reason there is no head contact there is pavs sees it and tries to avoid it. And 2. ESPN kept replaying the hit over and over knowing it resulted in an injury, and the announcer at one point is saying “here’s the hit again at full speed” to try and defend the ref, but it’s just classless considering a player was seriously hurt.

  9. Can we talk about how a great game suffers greatly (especially for new viewers) because the Stars' jerseys are filtered out by the chroma key that enables the digital ads on the boards? Every Stars player who gets near the far boards vanishes into thin air. Can't imagine it will be any better for the Wild when the series goes back to Minnesota. Every 3rd ad having an animated green puck is just salt in the wound.

  10. Kaprizov wasn't right after he got crosschecked by Suter. Something to watch moving forward…

  11. It’s already late for central time in Dallas. I don’t know how many Dallas fans there are but there are a lot of wild fans in eastern time including me and it was a brutal start time for us. I already expected to be up past midnight but I just couldn’t watch past first ot. It was way to late

  12. It’s ridiculous how late the game started. A lot of people use the train to get to and from the AAC. The train stops running at midnight, so that forced a lot of people to have to leave early

  13. The longer the game went the deeper that pit in my stomach grew worrying that the wild would get a lucky bounce and score. And they did.

  14. Came into this series saying the only reason Dallas are ahead in the standings is because of OT losses and it continues for them lol

  15. Horrendous officiating on both sides tonight. Not going to argue that. What upsets me is this: the lack of class shown by Minny players when someone gets injured. Hartman laughing after his hit on Ehlers, and now Dumba grinning ear to ear after injuring Pavs. I think Matt Cooke is lurking in the Minny locker room somewhere whispering sweet nothings into their ears.

  16. As far as the time goes-I work at Ball arena in Denver,& the Nugget game tipped at around 8:50 MST the other night,& I guess we get a "break" tonight,as Avs-Seattle is supposed to start at 8pm. Most these games are gonna be the same.As for the Pavelski hit-thats a 2 minute penalty to me. Dumba is 1 of the dirtier players in the nhl-my opinion.(though Marchment on Dallas is probably #1)

Just 1 game, but I did kinda forsee some of that coming. I picked Minny in 7,& some of the reason why,is Dallas didnt really have much adversity this yr. They lived a completely charmed reg season, with almost no injuries-yet somehow let Colorado,& Minny hang around in the central-despite 14 pt lead in January. Losing a lot of OT games is 1 reason.

AndI NEVER pull for opposing injuries-even teams I hate-like Dallas,& Minny. And especially something as serious as concussions. But when you see teams like Dallas this yr-that have totally charmed reg seasons-injurywise-the hockey gods sometimes "even it up" in the playoffs. Minnesota dealt with some stuff this yr,between the Kaprizov injury,& blueline injuries. Nothing remotely on the level of my Avs-the most injured deffending champ, since they started tracking "lost man games,"& only 3 guys I think-who played all 82 games. But Minny did have to overcome some rough luck also. Dallas lived a completely charmed life-despite having some pretty old dudes. Thats not something they should appologize for of course-you dont want injuries. But it does tell me-Minny is more adversity tested,& it is pretty bad that Dallas didnt run away with the central, considering the issues Minny,& Colorado dealt with,& the fact the Stars had all of like 80 man games lost. Avs had around 500 by comparison. Manson,Makar(who both should play tonight),& Helm-missed around double the games, that Dallas whole roster missed. And those 3 are just the tip of the iceberg for Colorado.

We will see where it goes, but I thought this was the yr Minnesota breaks through,& wins 1 round. Its why Im happy we got the playoff inexperienced,& suspect goaltending Seattle round 1. But we will see how that goes,Im not saying Seattle will be a pushover at all. But I do think we will see Wild-Avs round 2. And I think theyd have a better shot at the Avs,than the low basketball iq Tpups have of beating the Nuggets.

  17. The Pavelski hit was clean. The injury is on him, he let up at the wrong spot. Also I remember seeing empty seats in the lower bowl toward the end of the 2 period

  18. This game went ridiculously late in Minnesota, too. Maybe ESPN just doesn't like the Central Time Zone.

  19. pavelski was out before he hit the ice, took a stick to the face and the side of the head at the same time, and hitting his head on the ice doesn't help but that wasn't what knocked him out

  20. Back in high school I went to the 5OT game against the Ducks in 2003. I remember getting in trouble with my football coaches for missing practice so we could get to the arena before puck drop. Even with the early start time, we didn't get home until well after 1am. It was a great time, but I doubt we would have stuck around as late if that game started as late as this one did.

  21. I can’t wait for this team to somehow embarass itself even worse than last night when I go to game 2 tomorrow night.

Why couldn’t I have started life as a Tampa or Boston fan….

  22. Wild fans remember we won game 1 in ot vs Vegas and had early goal lead in game 2 and still lost that series in 7. Stay humble folks

  23. What I fail to understand why there were no penalties called on that punk and locker room cancer of a player Suter for crosschecking Kaprizov. 2 or 3 times in the game and Kaprizov not even remotely involved in the play happening.

  24. No other state in the country has contributed to the NHL like Minnesota has. This state deserves a cup. We're desperate, lol.

  25. Fun fact: the playoff FC Dallas game last October also started at 8:30pm. That game went into a penalty kick and didn't end until damn near midnight… and it was ALSO on a Monday night…

Dallas sports teams always get stuck with the late playoff OT games, lmao, and I was at both of them.

  26. Here's the bottom line:

The Wild punched the Stars in the mouth and the Stars failed to respond especially after Pavelski went down. Very disappointing. You were on the power play in both the 1st and 2nd overtime and couldn't cash in. You deserve to be down, 0-1, in the series. It's time to grow up, Stars.

  27. Dumba made a hit that would be illegal in the NFL, the fact that he didn't even get a hearing is a lame joke.
