Down 2-0, Avs Battle Back and Beat Seattle 3-2. Series Heads to Seattle Tied 1-1

It didn’t start pretty. In fact, it was downright ugly. The Colorado Avalanche followed up a suspect game 1 effort with a first period that was probably their worst period of the season. Not what you want to see in the playoffs. It also found them down 2-0 after the first, which included a Seattle short-handed goal.

But in 48 seconds all that changed. Artturi Lehkonen and Val Nichushikin both found the net in the blink of an eye and then everything changed. Things started opening up for the Avalanche that the Kraken had not allowed prior. We started to see Avalanche hockey again.

And then Devon Toews sealed the deal off a juicy Philipp Grubauer rebound to give the Avs the win and tie the series up.

Now we head to Seattle. What will we see? The team that showed up and struggled to do anything right, or the team that turned it around and started to take control and play Avs hockey?

The series is far from over.

  1. Worried about Mac…..looks skinny or gaunt. Where's Kale? Hopefully the moose and Jt stay strong. Good to see Nuke showed up again tonight

  2. We’re going to need Makar to go up a gear to his usual dominance . Once that happens, everything will settle into place . If he can’t elevate , I’m not sure we can go distance

  3. Lehky may have saved our season, after that goal a switch got flipped and the whole team played and skated with the confidence and swagger we know and love.

  4. Great dub for the Avs, hard fought and well deserved. Keep up the great work, best Avs content I've come across.

    Go Kraken

  5. Easy to see how a healthy Landy would elevate this team. That said, the way the west is this szn, another Stanley Cup run isn't out of the question.

  6. I feel asleep after that terrible first period. It was a pleasant surprise when I woke up and seen the final score

  7. My question is ,,, I wonder what Bednar told them at 1st intermission,,, cause they just flipped the switch,,, and looked like they are supposed to ,, skating , crisp passing and aggressive forecheck,,, Plus you knew Grubby wasn’t going to keep getting lucky with the puck bounced and the puck hitting him ,,,

  8. What a stressful game!! Lol my wife almost banned me from playoff games because they stress me out too much!
Glad we are back in the this. Let’s go shut ‘em down in their house!

Sound check 📣 Better Late Than Never – Saint Asonia: it only took us 4 periods to show up but how that we’re here, look out Seattle!

  9. Was at every playoff game last season. I can safely say that last night was about the loudest I’ve ever heard it.

  10. Avs dropped their "pucks" and dragged em all over Seattle after that first period. That first period tho…. dreadful. Vomit inducing. Cant even blame bad puck luck.

  11. Flip a switch is right! You guys nailed it earlier in the season saying this season is the Yin and yang season. That game was a the yin and yang at work, and was the culmination of this entire season in a nutshell. In all my years of watching sports, i've never seen such a contrast by one team from the start of the game, to the end of the game. What a game! Maybe hearing some boos coming from the crowd after the first period helped snap them out of it a little bit.

  12. I think I know what has the Avs off their game to start this series… they are wining faceoffs. They are finally playing a team that is worse at faceoffs than they are and by a country mile.

  13. Georgiev straight up kept them in the game long enough to flip the switch. That offseason snag is paying off massively when it counts.

  14. We can never let go of lehkonen that dude is clutch!!! He sends us to the Stanley cup his former team to the Stanley cup and seals the Stanley cup for us and he sparks us with goals like that!!!

  15. Wouldn't we love to look back and say "and that was the last time Seattle led in the series"? I don't really see that happening… but something sure changed. It's like they suddenly remembered who they are.
That hit by E-Rod was epic. It was another moment that galvanized the team and the crowd. ESPN even carried on about it – he's not a big dude!

  16. First and foremost Evan Rodriguez was the MVP of that game. He was out there doing the dirty work and still getting good shots

  17. The team finally found their fighting spirit back. Great finish to a very exciting game. What worries me, I have not seen Makar and Toews so badly in their defensive play. Especially before Kraken's second goal, Makar has to be more aggressive against Gourde and don't just let him slip away at the boards and allow him to make that backpass to the wide-open Tanev. Georgiev the best Avalanche on the ice. That save at the end of the second period probably prevented a loss. How in the world could they not name him not one if the 3 stars of the game?????? I am certain, the Avs will be much better from the start in game 3.

  18. I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said. Thank GOD they bounced back and found that additional gear last night and hopefully that was the paradigm shift the Avs needed.
