Devils first year in is usually some growing pains.
If the devils put out their ahl team, the result would probably be the same.
Of all the NYR skaters and they're incredible ; that goalie is terrifying. Just so good and never looks human.
Anyone picking devils over rangers underestimate the impact of a great goalie in the playoffs

I'm a Devils fan. Of course I'd like to see better outcomes from the past two games. Just the same, I'm not surprised. Rangers where in the conference finals last year, they've gone to the playoffs 5 times in the past 10 years. They have a core that knows what it takes. You can't buy that type of experience. The only way to obtain the needed experience to go deep in the playoffs, is for players to go through this type of pain.
The Devils are playing with house money right now. No one expected them to have the success they did this year. You can't underestimate how valuable these games are to this young devils squad. While it may be hard to watch, this is exactly what needs to happen if then intend to be true cup contenders in the years to come.
All that to say, we are two games into a best of seven series. New Jersey's road record this season was a shocking 28-9-4. I wouldn't count them out. For me, NJ wins game 3, NYR then go on to win both Games 4 and 5.

Jack Huggies isn't built for playoff hockey.
Kinda reminded me of the Rangers' play-in round loss in the bubble. Many put their money on New York because they dominated head-to-head, but playoff experience turned out to be the x-factor.
I had Rangers in 6…the first game Shesty kind of stole it as it was pretty even, in fact it was a poor metrics wise for the Rangers but Vanecek was just so so.., 2nd game was a much better game for the Rangers….same score but Vanecek looked more like himself. Given the superior depth of talent and the slight edge in goaltending I'd be surprised if the Devs wind up winning but that said they are a very dangerous team that brings a unique blend of great scoring and great defense so I wouldn't write the Devs off quite yet. Anyway as a Rangers fan so far so good.
Rangers in 4, non rangers fans are simply too ignorant to acknowledge how stacked our team is right now.
My prediction is that now when everyone is kinda sure NYR wins the series and Devils are not rerady, the pressure they build for themselves will go away quite a lot and we will have some interesting games.
NYR in 6.
Devils reminds me of Toronto couple years back. Young, fast, inexperienced team with a great regular season gets beaten in the 1st round.
I still think the building vlocks are there. Vanecek would be better as a great backup, mybe Schmid rises to the occasion next season.
And I also think our D needs to be fixed. I dont want Severson on the team also. Marino is not a savior for everything.

Yes it’s disappointing but nobody has stepped up and they have no energy there is great ahead but might not be our year playoffs at least maybe they will rebound on the road which happens lose 2 at home and then win 2 on the road
you dont know puck if you thought the much less experienced team with a worse goalie was going to win… also the devils werent even that great during the last quarter of the season… amateur style initial take
I had rangers in 5 in my bracket and i'd think that's gon be right. I did also bet on the rangers to win the cup, but we'll see what happens
I could see how frustrated the devils have been getting the last game. Im a devils fan since i was a kid, and also watched this team all season and see theyre not playing with the same energy on their defensive and taking a bunch of careless penalties. Like last night when the rangers got the 2 PP goals with the score becoming 3-1 changed the entire momentum swing. Also, not getting anything through to Shesterkin for the most part and generating offense. Sad to see. I really hope Game 3 they can take it a period at a time and take control of the game. At least give a little hope to the fans and players making the series 2-1. I like to remain optimistic as a huge fan of the team my whole life and say too its not over until one team wins 4. I know it doesnt translate on the ice game 1 and 2, but Sports is a fickle business and anything can happen. Also, GG so far to any rangers fans. Theyve been overwhelming to the devils right now and their PP is absolutely ridiculous.
Also i can't put too much blame on Vanecek either because of terrible penalties and lack of tight D around him.
The Devil's are as SOFT as a bag of marshmallows. And the Rangers are not exactly tough.
The Timo trade is looking even worse for the Sharks now…😢
What's really crazy is that Mika Zibanejad, the Rangers best scorer in the regular season, has not been on the scoresheet yet………..yet. When the Devs focus on Kreider during a Power Play, that will free up Mika to have room at the circle! LGR!!!
Im not surprised. Need playoff experience for playoff success. NJ is a super young team and NY made semis last year
And the Rangers are getting it done with virtually zero offensive contribution from Zibanejad and Breadman. Once they get going, they'll be unstoppable!
The fact of the matter is that this Devils team is extremely reminiscent of the Leafs pre-covid. A fast, fun team with exciting offense, questionable goaltending, and mid as fuck defense. They just aren't ready to compete with the best playoff teams yet, which are built in a different way from the ground up.
