This New York Rangers team TERRIFIES me..

For the second game in a row.. the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-1 and now lead the series 2-0. This was one of the most anticipated series heading into the NHL playoffs, but so far.. it has been all New York Rangers. We break down how & why the Rangers are dominating & what it means for the rest of the series.

  1. Rangers fan here. The Devils are a REALLY GOOD TEAM. This series is NOT OVER BY A LONGSHOT. Obviously I want the Rags to win but it's not going to be that easy. Gotta respect your opponent. LFGR

  2. Combination of both. Canes fan who wants nothing to do with the Rangers in round 2 assuming we take care of the Isles.

  3. Meh this is just the tip of the iceberg for the leagues youngest team that dominated and will for the next 10-12 years. They're gonna take their licks now and they'll be a cup or 2 in their future.

  4. Couldn't be truer. In the playoffs experience (losing or winning) is hugely important. The Rangers have experienced coach (2018 cup finalist) and team (last year conference finalist). But this year they have acquired the missing piece of winning experience in Tarasenko & Kane. They were the difference makers in the first two games. My bet is on the Rangers this year.

  5. Graves has been …. Graves. Not good enough, probably never will. There is a reason why NYR and CA traded him away.

  6. The Rangers have had really good goaltending for a long time. But their style always seemed to be that in close games, they would play defensively on the theory that the defense and goaltending would work together to shut down opponents. Now, they're taking more offensive chances and relying on Igor to make big saves, but so far it's worked out.

  7. NJD got schooled by NYR. The Devils better learn in a hurry how to play smarter playoff hockey otherwise it would be bagel for them in this series. I honestly expect them to lose in the first round but not this badly.

  8. would love your thoughts on Wes deciding to just send off people left right and centre in the last 8 minutes of the game.

  9. Already I hear people saying “Sweep at MSG,” but for me as a Rangers Fan I would rather hope we win one of those games in case we lose. A sweep would be nice, but I never would count an opposing team beaten until it truly is over.

  10. The Rangers are a good team don’t mistake that. But the Devils are the opposite of “built for the playoffs.” A really soft team that seems like the entire roster is 5’8” and weigh 150 lbs is not going to win a cup

  11. I think people are getting ahead of themselves here, it’s not sustainable for a team to score 3+ tip goals every single game.

  12. Playoff hockey is an entirely different beat to regular season hockey, we all know this. Rangers have been there before, the Devils, for most of them it's their first time, it's good experience for them regardless of if they win or lose that should help them in the future. The Rangers were the same when they came out of their rebuild, had a pretty good regular season, then lost in the 1st round because they were a young team, but they got experience to know what a difference Playoff hockey and they got better over time. This is a Rangers team that made the final 4 last year.

If the Devils get swept or only win a game in the series, my biggest concern for them will be management panicing and replacing too many people because they are a great team. Hell in the regular season the Rangers only beat them once, but again Playoffs are a whole different game.

  13. They don't call it the second season for nothin, experience is a major factor. The Ning had to learn through growing pains, & a humiliating loss to the BJ's before they got over the hump, the Av's did too.

  14. The Rangers forced to Devils to change from a speed and shoot game to ground and pound game. They aren't built for that.

  15. They’re playing a young devils team. Let’s see how they’d match up against evenly experienced teams like Tampa Boston or Colorado

  16. My new favorite team will be whoever eliminates Boston. If Boston wins the cup I think I'm done with hockey

  17. Rangers are not just good right now, but scary good. They are doing everything right. I have been critical of them defensively in the regular season, but look at them know. 3 guys stacked at the blue line when the devils try to get into the zone. They are doing everything right. I think that this series is over. Devils may take one, but it is over. Now Carolina will be the big challenge. They clog up the blue line and make it much harder for the Rangers to get anything going into the offensive zone. They gave the Rangers headaches in the regular season. If they get past Carolina, they are the only team that stands a chance against the Bruins.

  18. Playoff hockey turns on a switch and the more experienced teams with veteran players are something to behold.

  19. The experience of the vets of the NYR will be too much, they know enough to win and rest to remain at their best.

  20. If Big Daddy Kane plays with the level of hustle he showed on his Game 2 goal, and if some of that rubs off on his teammates, this will be over in 4.

  21. I think the teams today need to listen to Messier and Gretzky. You don't have the gas to celebrate. That is what it takes.

  22. The Rangers are a fucking problem…Skill, size, and experience, as a Bruins fan it's the one team from the east thats going to be a problem for us.

  23. Being a Chicago Blackhawk fan, I was sad to see Kaner go, but glad he got to play with Panarin again! The Hawks made some very stupid moves after their 3 Cup run. Getting rid of Panarin, Hjalmerson, and many, many more young talen has me shaking my head. Anyway, I hope the Rangers take the Cup!

  24. Inexperience. The rangers are stacked and they’ve all been here before. Also, F THE RANGERS!!!
    LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!!

  25. When the devils try and match the Physicality they get exposed.

First period of game 2 has been the only competitive period and the devils were playing fast not worrying about hitting. Sure playoff hockey is conventionally more physical but aside from Timo the devils don’t have guys that can throw the body AND skate.

If your gonna get swept at least do it playing your game.

Ruff has some shitty scratch/dressed from game one to game two and I’m not even thinking Luke Hughes.

No reason Smith plays for Siegenthaler

  26. It’s both,

the rangers have played most of the regular season playing down a gear waiting for the playoffs. This is them trying.

Devs are a talented inexperienced team facing down a team like that.

  27. a little bit of both, even toward the end of the regular season the rangers were getting hot.. they are a scary team to draw in the playoffs at this point for any team
