Evereybody here fuming for the Igor penalty. Yes it was a wrong call and refs “offset” it by giving a softy penalty to the devils later. The fact that we had 5 PPs and couldn’t capitalize on those plus that we just had one goal the whole 60+ minutes are the reasons we lost. And the only goal we had was pretty weak from Akira. If Igor let that in we would be saying “cmon Igor”.
It is difficult to win ice hockey game by scoring just one goal. Devils showed it twice previously. We have to be better on Monday and forget about Igor’s penalty.

  2. PaulSach

I was at the game and it was never explained to the crowd why the Devils got a PP after Meier fell on Igor. We came out of the TV timeout on the PK and got scored on. Kinda felt like BS cause the replay clearly showed Meier fell on Igor without Schneider touching him.

  3. PaulSach

Also, we got too penisy. This is what happens when you get too penisy.

We gripped the stick too hard and missed wide on a bunch of A chances. Schmid was in no position to make saves on multiple chances. We just squandered it.

Hope this game acts a reminder than every win is earned. No reason NJ should’ve left with a W tonight, Bu thems the breaks

  4. Livid-Screen2880

Devils style of play is off the rush—that means their play depends on their opposing team making turnovers. We turned over the puck too much and let them play their game. If we don’t turn over the puck then we’re 100% the better team. This rangers team has a bad habit of wanting to make the perfect pass. They’ll need to avoid this if they wanna win the series

So girlfriend says “I can’t take this anymore it needs to stop”

I go “ woah woah we don’t say that”

    Next shot is in.

I tell her that it’s okay. Hockey superstitions are there and to never say that again.

    She rolls her eyes.

I walk dog and vowed to never watch playoffs with her again

    It’s on me gents/ladies.

    My bad.

  6. yorky24

GG is one hell of a coach. Really keeps the team together when the players fall flat!

  7. Sorry everyone. It’s my fault. I finally changed my playoff underwear and look what happens.

  8. Rassisland

To lose to an OT goal by an adult that goes by Dougie hurts

  9. dcgirl98

Christopher James doing his thing! Igor kept us in it. We had some good defense but the Devils had an answer for our PP. Refs were atrocious and didn’t call some blatant penalties. We can blame it on the crappy ice, some crappy play, etc. But they tried. Now they need to figure it out for Monday. We got this and go back to the Garden for Monday! Let’s do this! LGR!!

  10. Oprama2016

Cut the crust off this shit sandwich boys.

  11. happywafflez

Is there any dumber feeling than spending $500 to watch a flat footed team in person lose in OT?

Ugh, Monday regroup please. Looked decent a few mins of OT but a weak offensive effort outside of that.

  12. nyr00nyg

Artemi “can’t hit the broad side of a barn” Panarin

  13. i shaved today for a new job. its all my fault

  14. hankepanke

Frustrating loss. Tough to go 0-5 on PP and still win. Both teams worked hard but neither was totally crisp (maybe blame the ice).

Still, we’ve been the better team for the past 3 games. Maybe even in each of the 10 periods. At worst 8/10 periods. This series is still ours to win or lose, and I like our chances.

  15. BernieManhanders23

No bodies in front, no rebounds, too cute plays, about a dozen missed nets turned into breakouts. Devils came out with everything they had and we came out average. They aren’t stealing two. Let’s send this back to prudential up 3-1 boys.

  16. TheGuava1

All I have to say is Fuck PK Subban and fuck ESPN for dickriding that Schmid dude so hard when he played average at best

  17. dcgirl98

It was just 1 game the Devils took. We WILL come back stronger Monday and take this series from them. Let’s stay positive! What I would like to see is starting PP2 next game since PP1 had majority of time with nothing to show. Also they need to pay attention to the net front rebounds. If someone’s there we’ve got some great extra chances.

  18. Honestly if it took a major ref fucking like that for the devils to win then that’s hilarious. We’re clearly the better team and it took a bogus power play and a missed too many men call for them to win. Congratulations lol yall are still down in the series and had to be helped to barely win.

Rangers in 5. See yall on Monday

  19. Jagr6810

I liked the performance but they gotta curb the extra pass cuteness and just fire it. With shots you never know what’s going to happen

  20. JagrsMullet90

So basically if Kreider doesn’t score at least 2 goals we lose. This one was on Kreider then.

  21. arunnair87

Next game their backup is no longer their backup, because he’ll be their starter. So we’ll be ok.

  22. skorags23

Kakko is the worst player on this team

  23. callmesnake13

This was a trash game and we just as easily could have won. Nobody was shining tonight. I also never thought this series would be a sweep.

  24. Greenleboi

We’re okay. Kreids still has more goals than their whole squad combined

  25. DivClassLg

I scrolled pretty far down before I saw the first, its Kane’s fault post.

    Getting better NY

  26. BigJohn1231

Our PP was fucking horrible and that’s the difference in the game. Could barely get the puck into the zone as we were too sloppy at their blue line. Not sure why they can’t chip and chase to get the puck when you’re up a man.

  27. Maleficent-Comfort-2

Frustrating loss to the say the least, but I believe we can pull ourselves together next game.

  28. Medical-Distance-99

It feels like there was a switch that was flipped on for the first two games. These guys were playing a step up for playoff hockey and showed they are undoubtedly the better team when playing well. Tonight looked like the rangers team from this season who we all feared would show up this playoffs. Too cute on offense and not playing physically enough. Gotta flip that switch back on come Monday and play good hockey again. Rangers are the better team here…

  29. Key-Tip-7521

Vally is/was spitting facts. TOO CUTE. 360 passes shouldn’t be happening in Game 3 of the Playoffs. Maybe in Game 3 or Game 23 of the Regular season. Really simple. I said in the GT, and Vally said Instagram hockey. Not a good idea in the playoffs. Here are my thoughts:

    * Defensively (meaning the dmen), the Rangers looked good. Obviously could have been better. Igor was well Igor. Next game, stay out of his eye sight. Better yet, out muscle guys battling in his crease.
    * Chris Krieder did his thing. Mika, played a good defensive game, that led to the Kreids goal.
    * Special Teams: Penalty Kill was excellent besides the ppg they gave up. As good the pk is, it’s best to stay out of the box against the Devils. Must be disciplined. Power Play was ooof. Some of them were good, puck movement. But besides that, not really. Give credit to the Devils pk. Hesitant to shoot the puck.
    * Offensive zone: Didn’t see that much. Not much cycling of the puck. Shoot the puck as well.
    * Opportunities: I’ve been saying it ALL YEAR. Too many times I’ve seen the Rangers waste opportunities to score/shoot. Look at the power play tonight. Devils gave them a golden chance late in the 3rd. They wasted it.
    * Playing Open Ice Hockey: Meaning, up and down. Wide open. Like a skills competition. Or Track meet hockey. It plays into their advantage.
    * Turnovers: Way too many. Limit the stretch passes.
    * Overtime: Like what Trouba and Turk said. Playoff hockey is a flip of a coin.

Overall, on the 5th day of the Journey. A speed bump comes up. Missed opportunities all over the place. Also, we(the fans) and also the Rangers, they got too penisy/overconfident. I don’t think they were “Levi’ed”. But it felt like Tokarski stealing Game 3 in 14′. You could blame the zebras for being sus or not calling anything. But I think if a couple of bounces especially in the OT, could gone the Rangers way. This team wasn’t gonna go 16-0 in the Playoffs. Last team that did that was the 1960 Habs(when it took 8 wins). I’m not gonna pull a Pete Alonso and say “We Got this”, but I’m confident. The Devils were desperate. It showed. Their season was basically on the line. Rangers will make adjustments. Power play yes. Stay out of the box, play physical(not to the point of drawing penalties), and I’ll beat the drum on this, push the Devils to the boards. Grind them. After hearing what Vally said about Schmid, the Rangers should take that advice. Not gonna cry over spilled milk. We(the fans) and the Rangers, should move on from this game. Onto Game 4.

  30. Livid-Screen2880

Rangers weren’t going to win 3 in a row against the 2nd place team in the metro. Obviously would’ve loved a win but it was never gonna be this easy.

This loss is good for them. In the msg post game show, Vally said the team probably got overconfident after 2 big wins (how could they not?). They got overconfident and thought they could get away with a looser offensive game. They didn’t put in the work tonight to make the perfect executions they were making in games 1 and 2. They learned their lesson early—this style of play won’t fly in the playoffs. The devils only looked very slightly better tonight because the rangers looked worse.

Rangers will need to be disciplined and raise their intensity in game 4. It’s going to be a BIG game—with the momentum swinging heavily in the direction of the winner for the rest of the series. Rangers showed they were the better team in games 1 and 2, now it’s time for them to get the job done !

  31. Mr_Abobo

Three goals allowed in three regulation games. Defense wins championships, and I can’t believe the Rangers won’t score more than two goals next game.

Schmid was good tonight, but I don’t believe a .900-level goalie is suddenly going to become the next coming of Hasek.

I expect the Rangers to trounce the Devils Monday, truthfully.

  32. mikowoah

team played well, effort was there all game. shitty ice and just missing on our chances was the difference. they’re still giving the devils mostly nothing. slightly better puck management and less looking for the perfect shot and they’ll be fine.

have not really seen much in these 3 games that says the devils are the better team. they just need to stick with their game plan.

  33. InternationalHunt738

I think this was an excellent effort by the Devils and not a direct reflection on the Ranger’s play. I thought the vast majority of this game was dominated by us. I think the Ranger’s had more scoring opportunities and better ones. I just think we couldn’t finish. Which has been a issue with this team all year.

This was a gritty/chippy get in your face type of game. I think we were too defensive as a team. We needed to create more dirty net front chances. And a 0/5 on the power play is going to kill us every time.

Here is a simple stat I just looked up…if we get 4 or more power plays in a game during the regular season and we don’t score we are 1-7.

In games with 4 or more power plays and we score 1 goal we are 9-3.

We have 6-2 record if we score 2 goals on the PP.

And 2-0 if we score on 3 power plays in a game.

Does the chicken come before the egg? Or does the Egg come before the chicken? I think if a team can find a way to shut down our power play, it is a good sign they are shutting us down at even strength. But it is also a sign that if you play us dirty we can’t beat you. Here are the teams that shut us down during the regular season for 4/5 power plays in a row…San Jose, Colorado, Nashville, Anaheim, Washington, Dallas, Winnipeg, and Ottawa.

Anyone else notice anything? Like how teams with significant ex-rangers on them could shut down our PP? Or how teams that play a heavy physical game could also shut us down. Wash/Dallas/Winnie/Ottawa and Nash all play a very heavy game. And I would say the remainder know exactly what we are trying to do on our PP and just jump us, because either their coach or a major part of their roster was a major part of our roster just last year.

And as the record shows …rarely do the Rangers win these games. If our PP doesn’t adjust …this is going to be a long next 3 games. I don’t know if the Ranger’s can make that adjustment. All season long this team has been extremely stubborn with who gets PP time and how they play it. Never once has PP1 looked to grind out the dirty goal with the man up. Unlike PP2 which for most of the season, in the limited time they have received, it has been their bread and butter. It will be interesting to see if PP2 starts getting more ice time in the next few games.

And I do agree that Schmid made a difference in the game. He was calm and collected. He had great rebound control and typically we were 1 and done. The Devils were the hungrier team and they deserved the win.

Let’s see what adjustments are made for game 4 on monday.

  34. HumbleBJJ

Was at the game tonight. Honestly, the crowd was bonkers pregame and right after Kreider’s goal, but other than that, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but was very quiet at times especially in the third.
