Jim Montgomery Seriously Considering Starting Jeremy Swayman In Game 4 | Bruins Interview

SUNRISE, Fla. — Linus Ullmark was solid between the pipes as the Bruins beat the Panthers 4-2 to take a 2-1 series lead.

However, head coach Jim Montgomery is considering giving Ullmark a night off in game 4 due to his heavy workload and a nagging physical ailment. So we could see, Jeremy Swayman in net for game 4.

“There are thoughts of going with Jeremy,” Montgomery said Saturday. “Just because one — Jeremy is excellent. And two — after tomorrow’s game, there are [two] days between the next ones, Games 4 and 5. They’ve gone to the rink and when they get back, I’ll huddle with [Bruins goalie coach Bob Essensa], and he’ll let me know.”

  1. These idiots over played Ullmark , Bergeron , krejci and now there injured for the playoffs 🤡🤡🤡🤡

  2. This might cost us the playoffs. I lile Swayman but Ullmark should get all the playoff games.

  3. He may very well know something I don’t know but unless Ullmark is hurt or some thing is legitimately nagging him (with longer-term implications not just sickness) then I would play him every possible game of the playoffs and not overthink this. Which could absolutely be the case, i’m just saying. Unless he isn’t 100% it should be Ullmark EVERY game

  4. I think since Ullmark and swayman has been switching every game or every other game this might be longest ullmark played in a row all season? I could be wrong and I know swayman can handle himself just worried because swayman either lets in 1 goal or 7 no in between and the games he lets in more than 4 he mostly loses.

  5. I've heard that Ulmark didn't feel well before yesterday match. Maybe letting Swayman play the next one would give Ulmark some time to recover. I like the idea.

  6. Changing goalies in the playoffs is a fools errand.. unless there's injury or poor performance..if swayman plays great and gets a shutout, now you have a goalie controversy and you're gonna be 2nd guessing who to start next game.. If swayman plays ok and the bruins lose, Monty becomes the scapegoat for sitting the obvious vezina winning goalie.. how many games did Rask play during the Tim Thomas led cup run again? 🤔

  7. Montgomery spoiled for choice with the depth of players available eh?.
    Nice to see.
    Go the Boston Bruins.
    Hopefully all the way.

  8. Swayman’s a good backup. If he’s hot, he can play at a starter level. But he needs to work on his consistency. Playoffs isn’t the time to test that.

  9. I don't know how I feel about this…
Yes: goalies need rest. But risking a level series by putting Sway in the net for the first time since the 13th makes me a little weary just because of rust and overall save percentage.
If push comes to shove: I'll take Linus. 🇸🇪

  10. I totally agree and understand all the people that don’t feel confident with Swayman in net, I’ve been watching the team all year and the script definitely flipped, ullmark has definitely earned his stripes as a dependable starter. However, this isn’t Swayman’s first playoff appearance. Has he been shakey, yup, but this could be a good confidence booster for him and the rest of the team. In a perfect world I’d have Ullmark starting every game, but in this situation I can understand where Montgomery is coming from. Swayman isn't a total bum, he knows how to get the job done, he just needs defensive support and to execute.

  11. I’m for it has worked all year , playoffs are a marathon not sprint. LETS GO BRUINS !!!

  12. If goalie bob agrees with it I'm behind it. Have faith in the process.

  13. Better not. We going to lose if he does. Only if Linus cant go bc of injury. We need the Vezna winner in net and he has to play out of his mind to win this Sunday fla will be giving it their all again.

  14. This isnt good. Linus is our ride or die, gotta roll w him, hes the man. Swayman will get lit up. Dont do it Jim, unless linus cant play. If we win then play sway at home. He will get lit up 4 to 5 goals im tellimg you. Linus is playoff game tested. Please dont messw it. People saying put him in rest ullmark are you crazy, there's a reason why Ully 's out no 1. And Sways the backup. 2 games vs fla we won Ully in net, 2 games we lost to fla in reg season, sway in net. Hello!?

  15. I definitely like the idea of Swayman in on game 4 give ully some time to recover and rest. I think sway can hold it down

  16. I've mentioned a couple of times in recent comments that the Bruins would be making a mistake to not continue their winning formula of rotating Ullmark and Swayman as they had been doing in the regular season. I can already see how it is negatively affecting Ullmark's play that they have gone to putting him as the number one and only. If it ain't broke…

  17. Bruins should win the next 2 games, therefore, Ullmark can get his rest! Swayman reminded me of Ullmark game 2. Swayman, unless he has a great game, usually lets 1-2 easy goals in.
