One of those guys who you don't think of as an elite goalie, but he could go toe to toe with the best and steal you games when he was locked in. Given his 300 wins and the fact he's one of the best US born tendies ever, is he a dark horse HOF candidate?

That .929 career playoff save percentage is 3rd all time, behind Tim Thomas and Jonas Hiller (minimum 20 gp). Also, I like that he finished his career with the same amount of wins as Mikka Kiprusoff.
As a Sabres fan, I would love for nothing more than to see Craig Anderson come back as a goalie coach for us. Much respect for CA!
I loved him for his two years in Buffalo he was so much more than just a veteran depth signing for goaltending he ended up becoming one of our leaders and really helped turn the franchise around I will forever be grateful for his two years spent with Buffalo thank you very much Anderson we will miss you enjoy your retirement
I'm sure this will never happen, but I'd love to see see Andy back in Ottawa as a goalie coach/development coach. Whatever he does in his retirement, though, I'm sure he will give it his all

As you said, he was one of the best goalies when it came to playoff performances. This dude faced off against guys like Lundqvist and Price in their prime and matched them shot-for-shot. He posted a 51-save shutout against a powerhouse Sharks team while in Colorado. Still gutted he got injured in 2012-13 and missed out on what was his Vezina to lose.

Very very underrated. As a sharks fan, I remember 2010 when he had a very good goalie duel against Nabokov
and nearly stole the series. Huge playoff goalie was Anderson
I'm gonna remember him most for being the goalie Auston Matthews scored four on in his debut, a game Anderson won.

People scoffed when Buffalo went w/ a tandem of Anderson/Dell prior to 2021-22 kicking off.
Age and injuries aside don’t know where Buffalo would’ve been w/o him these last two years. You ain’t got help in net…you ain’t got nothing.
He earned so much love and respect from Buffalo fans and his team-mates. When a team WILLS itself to win games a goalie’s keeping them in…enough said.
But the fact is someone saw how well #41 did in his brief Washington stay and said that guy’s still got it. Thanks to that person, as well.

I was pretty bummed when that knuckleball got past him in OT. He was a great goalie, and I really enjoyed how insightful he was in the sit down interview he did recently, now that he's retired it adds extra significance to it.

Let’s not forget the last 2 years he’s unseated against the leafs.
He most definitely was not a "surprise starter" that first year in Colorado. The year before we had Andrew Rycroft and Peter Budaj. The Denver Post article said "Colorado finally has a goalie!" And he was everything as advertised.
Should have never traded Andy to Ottawa. Traded Shattenkirk and Stewart for St Louis the next day for Johnson, and I still hate that trade. We definately tanked for Landy. Nuge was not the best player in that dradt.
Andy wasn't the problem that second season. It's just that we had nothing in front of him.
Andy was the man in Colorado as far as I'm concerned. That playoff run doesn't happen without him. We just weren't good enough to keep him here as he was hitting UFA.
I remember when he was in Chicago playing against the Canucks and at that time, the Hawks were one of the few teams the Canucks could consistently beat. I didn't know anyone who thought Craig Anderson would be the goalie he became. It just seemed odd to me that going from Chicago to Florida actually improved his numbers substantially, because at that time, the Panthers weren't exactly a better team than the Hawks. But once he got his game together, he carved out a really solid career for himself. Unless there are injury issues, goalies seem to be able to play longer than a skater, which is good because it usually takes them longer to develop. That's why you probably don't want to give up on a goalie when they're young because they've had a couple of iffy seasons. You end up selling low and someone else ends up reaping the rewards.

The first time I heard of him was when he played against the Hurricanes and I noticed the Anderson vs Andersen matchup. Anderson won, and it was fun to watch him.

Based on his 32 thoughts interview earlier this season, this retirement is entirely on his own terms. It sounded like his family weren't with him in Buffalo full-time.
Seems like a genuinely good guy, a deserving Masterton winner and may have been the biggest reason the Sabres held their locker-room together around the time of the Eichel trade.
Rumor was he outright quit on the Avalanche in the second season. He had some nasty things to say about his time there and teammates. And the others didn't hold back on him either.
He was running away with the Vezina in 2013 till he got hurt. Too bad he will be associated with the franchise ending knucklepuck.

One of my favorite goalies of all time. I love his story I love how he just hung in there constanlty
I always think of a game he played against the Islanders when he was on Florida. He had 53 saves in a 1-0 win. At the time it set a record for most saves in a 1-0 shutout. I think the record might have been broken since (by Ben Scrivens?), but am not sure. He and Elliott were traded for each other so long ago, and up to this year both were still playing in the league.
Officially he's not retired.
He has to be one of the most underrated tenders ever. I loved watching him. Imagine him on an amazing, big market team…
