Happy Monday! The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue to roll along and so does the Locked On Penguins podcast. Hunter starts Monday’s show with rumors about John Gibson that surfaced over the weekend and why it’s nothing to worry about since the Penguins don’t even have a GM right now. He then discusses why he wouldn’t make sense to trade for if the new regime were somehow interested in him. He looks at his contract, along with his numbers, and discusses why he would be a worse option than even Tristan Jarry, who is set to be a free agent when July comes around. He then finishes by giving a potential option that would be much better, (thanks to a YouTube commenter) before going to Sidney Crosby’s season review. He looks at how he continues to turn back time and did all he could to carry the Penguins into the playoffs. Will he get top 10 votes for the Hart Trophy? What should expectations for him be next season? Finally, he ends the show with a discussion about how the two wild card series in the East are going as he expected them to (and no, the Penguins would not be doing any better), before discussing the other series.

You’re ridiculous to say Gibson wouldn’t be a top goalie in this league if he was on a better team and also it’s dumb for you to compare his save % the last 4 years to the 4 years prior LOOK at the teams he had in the two 4 year spans and you’ll probably understand why there’s a drastic change
The contract would be the biggest reason that I'd say "no" to Gibson. Honestly, I don't think that much would change, no matter who you put in net, unless the defensive play improves.
I feel better with the Pens missing the playoffs. During the regular season, the Pens were 0-2-1 against the Bruins, and , 0-2-2 against the Hurricanes. Yeah, anything "could" happen in the playoffs, but I'd rather be where we are, empty out the front office, I'd have preferred clearing the coaching bench, too, but you can't have everything, I guess.
I know that Sully is loved by Mario and by FSG, but his teams have folded too easily and too often, under Hextall, and under Rutherford, for my liking.
