As a leafs fan what a comeback let’s go we never give up let’s go now we just have to win one more what a comeback
as a rangers fan(i know my rangers wont make it) I hope The leafs win the cup. It's been too long since Canada won a cup,!
Vasy appears to be off, but the Leafs have finally been able to find ways to deflect the puck and screen him well enough to get some of those goals they desperately needed.
I hear you. I have them winning the series too, just not in 5, or 6, for that matter.
A few thoughts about this game…
First of all, this was easily the best-officiated game of the series so far. We saw very little of the after-the-whistle crap that occurred in the first three games – as soon as they gave Hedman the roughing penalty in the second period to give the Leafs powerplay, it was obvious that the officials were trying to make sure nothing got out of hand. They punctuated it with the crosschecking penalty to McCabe at the end of the period.
This was also easily the best-played and most even game in the series as well. Although Tampa Bay dominated the first period, Toronto was the better team in the second period, and they were pretty much equal in the third period. Toronto had all the momentum going into overtime and it showed – before the Leafs' powerplay, they carried most of the play. Thankfully for us Maple Leafs fans, Kerfoot scored near the end of the penalty because, if he hadn't, there was a distinct possibility of a major momentum shift in the Lightning's favour if they had killed off that penalty.
Quite honestly, I can't really call this a "choke" on Tampa Bay's part – I think luck had more to do with it than anything else. Think about this: after the second period Tampa Bay was leading 4-1 even though Toronto had outplayed them in that period. Going into the the third period, the score could have been just as easily 2-1 if it wasn't for an absolutely perfect shot by Killorn and a fluke goal that bounced off of Stamkos' skate. Also, look at the goals the Maple Leafs scored in the third period and overtime: Matthews' first goal was a near-perfect shot and the others were either screens or tips (basically luck in both cases) which Vasilevskiy had next to no chance whatsoever to save. Furthermore, it's not like the Lightning didn't have any Grade A chances to score. They certainly did, but part of the reason they didn't score was because Samsonov made a couple of very nice saves – because he actually had a chance to make the saves.
My final thought: for those people writing off the Lightning… don't! They have a proud and talented team which is battle-tested in the playoffs. Now that they are down 3-1 in the series, they have to be feeling some sort of desperation and everyone knows
a desperate team can be a very dangerous team.
Game 5 is an absolute must for Toronto. Can't see Tampa losing another one at home if it heads to game 6. Game 7s are the leafs kryptonite.. scary if the leafs lose game 5.
I called it Leafs in 5 winning at home. Finally! 😂😮
Big wtf for tampa.
There I said it
Uh-oh, Toronto's up 3-1 in a series….
It's funny, out of all the comments I saw, there was a few about Dangle but NOT ONE about THG. This guy thinks he's bigger and more talked about/thought of than he is. LMFAO. GTF over yourself.
This team is different, man. The one thing Toronto has never had in the playoffs is this stubborn, never give up, never quit, attitude. I really believe game 1 was a positive thing for them. They DID give up in that game. They DID quit. But ever since then…its really changed. I dont even know how to feel as a Leaf fan…we dont win games like this lmao. This team really does feel different…for sure.
7:44 – only if you hate the Leafs!
If Toronto….IF…they come out gunning on Thursday, this is done. I didn't think they could do four in a row, but the game isn't played on paper, it's played on the ice. Toronto needs to come out and play sixty minutes, if they do they're done in five. The funny thing is that they haven't played their best hockey yet!!!
It is nice to see fans of other teams appreciating what the leafs are doing and kinda hoping they get over the hump. It is kinda emotional. I am so used to being hated for being born in Toronto and liking my hockey team, people rubbing it in with all the failures as if we haven't suffered enough as a leafs fan.
Shannon has really been a breath of fresh air giving unbias takes.
Leafs are an underdog story imo no matter who or where we play because of our history of failure.
I almost want them to go to game 7 just so the Leafs really break the curse
What’s Mr Meseeks doing down there?
Could easily be 3-1Tampa if we could close out the third. "Ifs and buts", etc. We'll have to do a Montreal Canadiens 2021 now.
an underrated moment that hasn't really been mentioned anywhere is knies' game saving play on the goal line. i believe tampa was up 2-1 in the 2nd and he cleared the puck on the goal line. they could've been up 5-1 and probably wouldn't have come back from that. both goalies have bad stats but samsonov has made big saves that vasilevsky hasn't. the games in tampa sound like a leafs home game. those fans were LOUD.
Ahhh. The annual time of year when leafs fans against their own will start thinking this team might win a series…. It ain’t over. And I recall saying this not that long ago…
This Maple Leafs team looks and feels different. Any of the previous Maple Leafs teams during this playoff series win drought would have gave up being down by 3 entering the 3rd period, but the last 2 games, they have shown tremendous heart winning in OT twice after being down. I think O'Reilly has been a big part of that. He knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and also win when it looks bleak or others don't think they can win and it is rubbing off on his fellow Maple Leafs.
But, they still have 1 more game to win, and Game 5 will be their best chance. They don't want the doubt to linger and return.
Honestly I quit watching this game because I thought for sure that Toronto was going to wilt and lose badly. That's why you play the game
Love the '67 Road Jersey! I have two…one Bower #1 and one Sawchuck #30.
awesome leafs
That Jersey is cleeeaaan
Leafs and senators '03
Great game by Toronto, jobs not done yet though! They were up 3-1 vs Montreal and were never able to close it out. So hopefully this is the year where they are able to get that all important 4th victory.
Here's my thoughs…. GO LEAFS!!!!!
I am starting to beleaf, and I haven't said that in 20 years
I think Tampa is gassing themselves by going out too hard in the first period.
Tampa bay decided to do their best impression of a typical maple leafs 3rd period in the playoffs performance
My Lightning are Blowing IT!!!!
Canada's Team will win this series in five (5) games. Watch and see.
