The New York Islanders got goals from Pierre Engvall, Brock Nelson and Mathew Barzal and strong goaltending from Ilya Sorokin to beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 and keep their season alive. There will be a Game 6 in this Stanley Cup Playoff series Friday on Long Island.

I don't want to hear anyone saying that the Islanders are unlucky, or that the "refs are against them" again for the remainder of the tournament, which for them will probably end in Game 6. They had no business winning this game without Sorokin and the fact the zebras had the whistles in their pockets, which definitely was to the Isles advantage. The Canes skated donuts around them for 85% of the contest and walked away the loser. Give marks to Barzal as well, he scored a nice goal using Horvat as a decoy. But they're supremely lucky to be going to a Game 6 against a decimated Canes squad that's still way better than the Isles are.
I'm sorry isles. I shouldn't have wrote isles off so soon. My apologies to all/Gil. Isles still the only team in nhl history to come back from 0-2 in best of five and 1-3, 0-3 series deficits. It can be done again. Isles just like playoffs are so unpredictable. And a nice sniper type goal by barzaI. That's his problem. Not shooting enough. I think lenny kravitz had a song describing isles plight in 1991.
Tonight's win felt like the dead-man-walking mentality. Laughing in the face of Kafka. As if the whole team thought, what more can they do to me, how much worse could it get? Then went out and played third-person rpg adaptation of the film 'falling down'
Which Islanders team will show up for game 6? Because, when we're on, we're almost unbeatable. If not…I don't even want to think about that
Let's hope the Islanders can carry this over to the next game but like during playoff chase I really don't know which team will show up.

Bottom line.. Islanders get another game, Do i agree they were outplayed…yes i do, but in the game of Hockey and most pro sports, there is a degree of Lady luck involved, and imho she shined on the Isles tonight !……Woo Hoo!! and i will enjoy it for another couple of nights…Go Islanders!!!
They got really lucky tonight. Evens out the really bad luck in game 2. Dobson is still shaky defensively. But Carolina is not a great team. So let's see what happens on Friday night.

Just a note to everyone: sorokin is a kid out there, we already know what he can do but this is playoff time and yes he is learning! It showed more so tonight! Every game he is learning! Even if we dont get to the cup this year i hope we get as further as possible for sorokin for nelson, barzal, Bo., and im hoping even Engvall as we set our future franchise moving forward. Experience in the playoffs is Huge!!!!!!!! Since its playoff time im not putting anyone down, so i wont comment Gil, because we need any BODY we have out there right now and guess what???? That BODY including "Dobson" could be the "HERO" of any playoff game we play!! So lets go boysss!!! If your there we support you go out there have Fun! And do what you do best!!! That's hockey baby! The first 5 m I thought here we go again. The PP is a nightmare! But the boys found a way and that's all you can ask from this team. Let's face it neither one of these teams is stellar. We all know the isles need to go 110% for good results. The nasty stuff slowed down and the flow of the game got faster. I think that benefits them. Gil you are spot on about the first goal. Sarokin should have covered that. Stop all the mistakes and they have an opportunity to get back in the series.

Game 3 at UBS was an absolute mad house. I'm still getting my voice back. I'd expect it to be cranked up a notch from even that on Friday night. Let's make it as hostile as ever to support our boys! If we manage to take this one, "anything can happen in game 7" and I'll take our chances with Sorokin in net.
Said this before, this is the formula to win and I think the only way. Lay back play smart, counter attack. Must do this at home. Said I liked Engvall along the boards, well this time he attacked the net. My Number 2 star. Ilya #1. On PP Yandle on ESPN showed how the 1-3 trap stops entry passing. Need to address that. Once again Aho and Dobber scare you on D. Breaking up Horvath and Barzal worked. I say keep it that way for series. Anything from Lee will be a bonus at this point. Playoffs showing all players have the skill can tip pucks now. Face offs critical so yeah keep two centers on ice.

Hello fans! Thank you, Gil. Another show knocked out of the park! It was pretty nice to see, not the entire time of course, the Islanders had jump in their game. Thank goodness we have Sorokin, because times we didn't have jumped, he did bale us out. On the goal taken away for the Canes, I was yelling OFFSIDE, OFFSIDE! I can't believe the linesmen missed that. When they scored I was yelling CHALLENGE, CHALLENGE!! Thank goodness for challenges lol. Game 6 at UBS arena. I'm ready, as long as the same team shows up. Everyone keep those good thoughts going. We're not out yet, but it is another elimination game, as all the remaining games will be. Let's see if we can get the Canes to an elimination game! Hi Gil, wow 🎉great news! Islanders win and the Mets lost 5 to 0 we had great seats and the new scoreboard is beautiful..Steve cohen is the best..Scotty was watching the islander game on his phone.
