Rangers Shut Out in Game 5 Rout | New York Rangers

John Giannone, Steve Valiquette, and Henrik Lundqvist break down and analyze the New York Rangers shut out loss at the hands of Akira Schmid and the New Jersey Devils in game five of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Even though goaltender Igor Shesterkin has played relatively well, the Rangers could not find a way to back up their netminder.

Rangers Shut Out in Game 5 Rout | New York Rangers

  1. Rangers fans thought they would sweep, delusional ….Why is everyone surprised? Devils youth and inexperience , aka jitters, showed up games 1&2. I expected the series to be close all they way, similar to the regular season. If you followed the Devils this season, this is how they played everyone, most of the season. What surprised me is how “everyone” is playing D,. It’s not over till it’s over

  2. Want me to give you guys reality check? You aren’t winning with this coach, you aren’t winning with these mentally soft players that can’t handle a shred of adversity, and you most certainly are not winning without a reliable backup for Igor. I’m not a rangers fan but god, please trade Shesterkin. The dude looks absolutely cooked trying to bail out his team with the 500 pucks that come his way. Have fun pissing away your best season and also losing your top talent in 3 months time.

  3. Gotta love the Mickey Mouse jokes, just remember that came back to haunt Gretzky, 3 cups later….lmao. With the stacked deck the devils have coming up, hoping to see more cups in the coming years….while the rags keep trying to buy their cups….hey maybe u can sign Towes next season too….

  4. Top down, team is a joke. Congratulations to Jersey for turning the series around.

Rangers showed how little they care about this season and their fans.

On paper, this team should not struggle to score against any team or any goalie.

Firing Gallant, after they get eliminated Saturday, will not solve the problem. This is an organization wide issue.

  5. On the 2nd goal you could have gotten a bowling ball through that 5 hole. Total meltdown by Igor tonight. Panarin? just your typical no-show once again. Zibanejab? your hair is beautiful, don't muss it up…

  6. To be fair, the Penguins lost that series because Louie Domingue is absolutely dogshit, and because they lost Crosby and Dumoulin for a stretch. If the Pens had even average goaltending, they win that series in 5 easy. Louie was playing unsustainably bad.

  7. Typical Henrik/Igor Rangers offense performance lethargic when the goalie is trying his best
This time you have all these elite playmakers yet can’t score goals and power plays 😂

  8. If I am Gallant I take out Patrick Kane he took 2 penalties and definitely holding back Mika also taking Kane out also solves the power play putting Teresenko in the bumper (guy is lethal with his quick wrister from the middle of the ice) Bring up a kid from Hartford put him on the 4th line to go hit people.with Igor I really like our chances otherwise get ready for a funeral 😳

  9. What? Another coaching change? I don't think that's the answer. If they lose the series, Drury has to blow it up. Tired of wimpy, finesse players disappearing in post season.

  10. What an embarrassment to the fans, the city, and the logo on the sweater! There’s something wrong with both upper-level management and the coaching staff, with the players stuck between the two extremes. Yes, the majority of them make outrageous amounts of money, but the bottom line is that professionally happy athletes can both cut through the muck and perform to the best of their abilities. That’s not the case here. Something is rotten in the state of New York.

    P. S. The East to West style of hockey is not going to work against the Neutral Zone Trap.

  11. This game was laughable, unfortunately. Since Kane showed up and the media has gone on and on and on about him, we've let our REAL stars fall by the wayside. Mika and Bread carried during the season. The chemistry took a couple of games with Vlady, but the team never really seemed to click after that washed up tool (mopey sad boy Kane) showed up.

Bench Kane and let the real RANGERS play.

  12. When you know your team can't "jump" high or even to be in PlayOff's it's more easy to understand the overall picture…be in the bad mood with your team, feels bitter tears after loosing games e.t.c. It was good to be fan for Columbus BJ. Don't expect much… But when your fav players playing other team when this team is freaking up not one, not two but three games in a row after 2 perfect games …pffffffffff. Can't get it….thay CAN play + CAN win…on the other hand what we see now……wtf ???…They are on strike? No cookies? Pucks are too heavy? No cola in locker room? Please, somebody….answer me to one simple question "W T F IS GOING ON with NYR ice hockey team? Not why happens…not when happens, not how it happens BUT WHAT….. This is freaking shame…speechless.

  13. This is the fault of Chris drury and the organization not understanding what it takes to put hockey team together in the playoffs this team is totally built for the regular-season what do you think you're going to fitness people in the playoffs with Tarasenko and Kane in give me a break

  14. Isn’t this why JD and Gorton got sacked: too many finesse players and not enough grinders? Regardless, losing to the Devils shouldn’t be happening…

  15. Rangers in the offseason need to find players that have character and heart. This group while they may have skill, regrettably, lack the necessary WILL.
