Still need someone that can do what Hyman did.
Handing out those whopping contracts back when the cap was rising was controversial but understandable. Now with the new long term flat cap landscape… keeping them is irresponsible and demonstrates a tremendous lack of foresight.
I’m trying to understand how we are supposed to somehow fit in Rielly and Campbell next year.They will command an additional 5-6 million of cap presuming they even want to stay.
If for example any of these “value” acquisitions actually hits and has a breakout year we can’t even afford to re-sign them under our current model.
It’s bad enough we lost a heart and soul guy already to this model.Something has to give eventually and I don’t understand what they are waiting for?
To me this seems like nothing more than absolute stubbornness.

Kinda excited about this as long as he is healthy. I hate this Ritchie train so many people are on. I think Kase has better potential and tbh if he gets injured he can go on LTIR and give us some cap relief. Prefer that Ritchie personally

I totally disagree , this is not a good option for Torontos top 6, and I doubt Dubas is looking at it like that. Whos job is he gunna take Marners or Nylanders? lol , Should probably do a bit of research on his position. This guys is a bottom 6 forward. Period. Hes a really good third or 4th line player but if Toronto has to play this guy in the top 6, Dubas didnt do his job getting the proper wingers this team needs. Dubas did this last year as well. he signed ALOT of extra forwards. Him signing more rigt wing before getting that proper top line left wing is kinda weird to me. Im thinking this might be a signing to possibly keep spezza fresh. I believe it could be theyre looking to maybe not play Spezza all 82 games. Spezza was decent last year but he should NOT be on the third line like you said. That third line is clearly being made into a shutdown line. and you want Spezza on it? youre crazy. Your cant have all lines all about offense. Dubas is learning that fast. If the leafs can pickup Tatar and a real good big, hits alot, gritty blocked shots. right handed 5-6 defenceman theyll be in a REAL good position to do something this year. Tatar-Matthews-Marner , Bunting-Tavares-Nylander , Kerfoot-Kampf, Kase , Robertson-Brooks-Spezza/Simmonds , I believe spezza and simmonds will move in and out for eachother. They need to trade Mikheyev for hatever they can get. Engval on waivers.

So I see Dubas signed another "body" to fill out the roster. Shanahan or whoever mistook Kyle Dubas for an NHL caliber GM. It's time that the organization corrected that error.
I was the one who used the phrase "bargain bin hunting" in a recent post, but that's ok if money is tight., Despite missing last 2 seasons, I looked at Case anyway. I think he's worth a look, never know…When healthy, he can produce. See what happens. I encourage everyone to watch the you tube video showing Bunting's 10 goals in 21 games last year. Think we're going to like this guy. He signed with the Leafs, despite getting better and longer term offers from other teams.
I dont understand your analysis. I havent been able to find a point where Kase played LW, youre saying instead of Kerfoot playing Second line LW put Kase or Ho Sang , Two Right wingers a look on left wing?Im not so sure the leafs want to be doing that. It doesnt bump anyone down. You have to look at these players positions before you make these kinds of videos. Alot of players cant just swap wings easily. If youve played hockey at all youd know its much harder position wise. as well as picking up passes on your backhand as opposed to the forehand , these players who are third line players going up to second line AND change their wing? I dont think so….If you watched the Dubas conference he said that the addition of Kampf would allow them to move someone to the wing. So Kerfoot wont be playing third line centre.. Hes a lock for LW this year. Whether that be 2nd or third line that depends if they add a better option for " LEFT WING" HO SANG and Kase arnt left wingers. Kase would have to beat out Marner or Nyander to play in the top 6.Toronto is either going to aquire a proper top 6 LWer still OR have Kerfoot play up on the second line to start the season and aquire a shutdown defencesive left winger to play with Kampf and Kase, on the third line and upgrade LW at the deadline.
It would be cool to shop engvall and mikheyev out for picks to try and sign fiala but I think that’s just out of reach tbh
Gotta admit as much as I chirp my team and loathe what weve become during the last 3 years, Im digging these moves from Dubas. Hes a crafty g.m. that finds interesting bargain players. He brought in Gabriel & Bunting & Kampf, those guys bring a needed element. Now Kase. Promising guy that can possibly grab 15+ goals per yr if he can stay healthy.
He's not a bruiser but he has solid defensive awareness
I like kerfoot, he was a gd player for us in the 1st rd when we needed him. But 3mill can be used better elsewhere. With 3 forwards making 33 of 81, ya cant afford a 3+ mill kerfoot. Other guys could do his job
Spez is an ancient wizard, on the wing with some speedy youngsters, I think he’d be sniping goals all over.
Kerfoot needs to be traded he doesn’t fit on this team. He is not a centre especially not a third line centre
Now sign Big Z! Chara would be perfect to protect the front of the net at a bargain price!

Dubas' bargain basement Maple Leafs. Sad this is the team after 7 years of Shanahan as President… Epic fail. Will be lucky to make the playoffs this season.

Maybe we trade Kerfoot and Mikheyev and a 2nd round pick to Arizona for Dvorak who could be a 3rd line center with Roberton and Spezza….forth line could be Kampf SImmonds and maybe Gabriel….or we sign Ritchie have a kick ass 4th line

There are 20 minutes in a period . How does a player fit in to produce a winning edge in the 3 period .20 percent of the bench produce the results .All the best .

This is a terrible signing….Leafs need size znd skill on the wing which is there biggest need right now…they do not need another Nylander that is EXACTLY what they DONT NEED …butvwent out and got…but worse with his injury and concussion issues….TIRED OF BEING A LEAF FAN….I quarantine that tje Leafs stink out the joint this year…Dubas is fired by American Thanksgiving and they will miss the the playoffs…
I've been a fan for 50 years….and there absolute stubborness not to bulk up on ypung wingers….and the peice de resistance signing Ho sang…this is the worst and shows how absolute desperate and wrong the path Dubas is going down right now…this yearvwill be one of the worst seasons in history …

another low end guy signed. the team pretty much is full of AHLs . they will be struggling to make a wildcard this year
Michael Bunting could be the Leafs best forward signing. He is a late bloomer at 25. He scored 11 goals in his first 26 NHL games.At 5 foot 11 and 200 lbs has size and is hard to knock off the puck and is great at deflections. he is hard to play against and has been compared to Brendan Gallagher.
