Thursday was a wild one for the Boston Bruins.
For starters, Brad Marchand was cleared to play against the Detroit Red Wings, and he proceeded to score two goal and add an assist in the 5-1-0. The Bruins improved to 7-1-0 behind a strong performance from Jeremy Swayman, while fan favorite Derek Forbort earned Big Bear of the night honors.
Unfortunately, David Krejci left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return. He was ruled out of tonight’s game against the Columbue Blue Jackets, which Ian McLaren previews to end the podcast.
Finally, Jack Studnicka was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Jonathan Myrenberg. DiPietro had asked for a trade this past summer and was once considered a high end prospect in net, while Myrenberg was Vancouver’s top rated right hand shot D prospect.
Nice piece of work from general manager Don Sweeney.

The lil🐁is back! Props to JD, alotta dirty work that led to some of those goals. Esp Brad's 2nd. Marchand mentioned he was happy to be back playing with JD.
Smith deserves the reward on stats.
The only game we lost? when #12 was benched. Coincidence? We'll see He takes on every dirty battle. I'm relieved he's still a bear.
Jeremy was good, yet stopped play alot & had lots of help… looked like the team was playing on their heels a bit, first half hour of the game, might've taken a few minutes to trust their goalie.
Gotta get those directed rebounds going to create faster transitions, instead of face-offs.
But it's a great re-set button for the young goalie. Important to pump up his confidence.
FORBORT RULES!
Who's the new goalie coming in? 23 yrs? Heard he's had 3 NHL games. He's only 6'0", don't think he's a threat as a starter. It's been a while since we've had a Canadian goalie.
Best of luck to Studs – he deserves NHL ice.
