Rangers stars shrinking and now their season’s on the line | New York Post Sports

After 60 minutes of relentless hockey from a team possessed, after three straight victories, one more impressive and decisive than the next, this is what we know five games into this Battle of the Hudson:

There is no quit in New Jersey.

The Rangers, on the other hand, we’ll find out if they can live up to their very own mantra when they take the Garden ice on Saturday facing Game 6 elimination following Thursday’s 4-0 paddy whacking at the Rock.

  1. Well, if the Rangers lose this series after being in the driver seat after the first 2 games Gallant will be proven right.
Experience does not matter in the playoffs!
But if they come back, he will have to change his tune.
Anyway, the New-York Rangers are not like any other team. Whatever the roster they assemble year in and year out they always seem to find a way to disappoint.
Being a Rangers fan is not easy. 😉

  2. Brooks's analysis here is spot on. And while I had faith in this team last year when they fell behind vs Pittsburgh and Carolina, there's no way they're winning this series.

  3. I would be surprised if the rangers win game 6, and utterly shocked if they win game 7, the devs have better coaching, speed and grit, the rangers have none of this, plus they are a soft team. more then halfway out to another 54 years wthout the cup.

  4. “Going well for me” brooks loves when the rangers suck..what a cancer reporter

  5. I do think as a Devils fan that the series will go the full 7 and having the game at The Rock is key. Of course, if I'm wrong I'll take it….means it over tomorrow night.

  6. When it was announced that Gallant would be the new head coach of the Rangers, I did some research to see what the "scouting reports" say about him. I read an article that his weakness is that he's not an "X-O" kind of guy but relies on his assistant coaches to work that out. The other thing I read is that he has been let go by management in his other teams because he refused to use the statistics gathered by an organization's stat department.

So he fails to see that a strategy is not working until its too late, and cannot find a new strategy in time. Given that the Rangers have lost 3 games without any real changes to how the Rangers play, the scouting reports might be true, even if the Rangers win the series.

The Devil's head coach made some remarkable adjustments to drastically change the performance of his team. The Rangers have yes to make an a noticeable adjustment. Hopefully they can pull it off.
