This looks like a good deal for both sides. Let’s see how it works with him on the blueline this fall.

I don't know how Treliving continues to get these RFA deals done like this, but he does. I was expecting something above $5mil, but man.
Can't wait to see what this Flames team can do on the ice.
I have a feeling he'll be replacing Giordano on the top pairing.
Hamilton is a top offensive d-man, but they really impacts him in his own zone.
Hanifin is already a stud and is only getting better still no clue why canes traded him
I was predicting 5.5 for 5 years. This will be a huge steal
A video of free agents still available that can still make an impact on an nhl team
Let's kick some ass
Risky giving him this contract now. Really hasn't proved he is worth that much. Paying players based on potential is always risky, but than again how do you win a Stanley Cup without taking a few risks? You don't. He could develop injury problems in the future or he might live up to his contract. I'm not so sure how this contract is going to pan out. Not a fan of paying players based on what they might do, but GMs have been doing it for years now.
Great video! I think that this is a really good deal
People seriously don’t understand how Hanifin has a ton of defensive issues. You guys are looking at his potential rather than his current play. He definitely has plenty of room to improve but people are saying he’s an upgrade over Hamilton and that is entirely false AS OF RIGHT NOW. I do think Hanifin will be a legit dman but I’m still taking current day Hamilton over current day Hanifin.
im also not saying Hamilton doesn’t have defensive issues. Both players do. I just believe Hanifin has a lot more to learn than Hamilton but obviously Hanifin is the younger player
Great signing, I'm just wondering if Matthew Tk has a really good year, which I think he will. How much is he going to demand? And how are they going to sign him? They have Mike Smiths contract off the books and Sam Bennetts but do they resign them? What do they do for a goalie next season..
Can marner have this contract lol
Good move for the Flames which actually helps the Oilers.
Nurse cannot command 5 M + now on a long term contract
How many GMs are gonna be a pissed about the RFA swipe?
Should signed 8 years deal 6 million
Where did you get the retro jersey? I can't find them anymore
Great value for a good, emerging defenseman.
It's a good contract and Hanafin wants to be a top defenceman and he's still young he could get if he works hard enough
I think Calgary is making a huge Gamble as another one of these guys has ever seen a playoff game and both play half-heartedly. Noah hanifin is on the ice for more goals given up in anyone else and still makes rookie mistakes after having several years at the NHL level. Hopefully he improves with the change of scenery but I just don't see it happening for either he or Lindholm
Hannifin is pure offense, but if you guys hear a carolina fan say this is not a good deal they are lying to you. This has potential to be amazing for calgary. As a canes fan im still super happy to have hamilton, but man calgary got shit done today.
Hanifin is a really good player
I like this signing.
In Buffalo, we Need to sign Reinhardt really soon!! Come on Botterill
Still going to be bad team
Hamilton>Hanifin
I mean, Carolina fans will tell you there isn't much magic with these guys right now. Of course, Hanifin could progress to reach that potential over the next couple of years. But even Calgary's new HC Bill Peters didn't feel he could break the top 4 pairing. Again, not saying he doesn't have room for growth, but there were signs that Hanifin's "potential" might be overrated.
I disagree also that Calgary hands down wins the trade. The trade was beneficial for both sides. Carolina has a glut of young defensemen, and got one of the higher touted D prospects in the trade in the form of Adam Fox. Ferland is a push at best when compared to Lindholm, but Lindholm's career trajectory seems to be 40-50 points at best (and he was given plenty of opportunities to best that under Peters).
I will say little progression took place for some of these guys under Peters in Carolina. I don't see how matching them up for another several years will make that any better. I wish the best though for Calgary, have nothing against them. I just think it was a deal both teams wanted and they got the pieces they wanted out of it.
Side note: THG will rag on Carolina for good now that the only guy he liked on the squad isn't there anymore 😉
Geez, Flames can actually make the playoffs next year
QUIT GRABBING YOUR RIGHT EAR when you start your videos. There is no way that you're nervous talking about hockey when you're an f-ing encyclopedia.
If you can get a top 4 dman with the potential to maybe crack the top pairing I think under 5 mill a year is a steal.
4.5 x 8 for Nurse now come on Pete
The flames might be one of the best managed teams in the Nhl right now.
If you compare it to Slavin's contract, that's about how much Hanifin is worth assuming he hits his potential.
😐🤢🤮
I am not a Fmes fan at all but I do think Hanifin is going to be a very solid guy for them on D. Nothing wrong with that contract. And plenty of time to move him if it does not work out, as the partial no trade clause does not kick in for a long time yet.
Paid on potential that could be exceeded right away. Nice it's done before training camp starts.
Steal
Signing a player who’s never played a game for the team lol
overrated player. Its a decent contract but lets not get carried away.
Calgary Flamers
Solid as a potential 2 c
It’s a great move for Calgary. Hanfin has a future still
Guess we'll see where the 'Canes and Flames wind up in this deal a couple years from now, but I still stand by the 'Canes as winning that trade. Hamilton is 100% a known quantity and consistency was something the Hurricanes needed more of. Granted, Hanifin is still young and Carolina could easily end up looking back on this trade and wishing they'd kept him. The Hurricanes made too many gambles on other players with "potential greatness" (AKA multiple goaltenders plus Alex Semin) over the years rather than picking up pieces they could get a close guarantee on performance.
I wish the Flames would have added Frolik and maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the trade with Skinner coming back as well.
☺
