I have no feelings about it since it’s not my body. I don’t know the reason for the purple and i don’t need to know.

It’s not like it’s the trendy thing or a statement piece. He had a bad concussion earlier this season. Rose/Purple tinted glasses, visors, goggles etc help cut down on certain wavelengths of light.
A lot of players that suffered a bad concussion or multiple ones have trouble with bright arena lights and the bright ice. It was mentioned after McCann’s hit by Makar. McCann would likely have the same visor if he was able to return at all this playoffs. Might have to wear one next season

One time I was at a leafs game where we were getting smoked by the caps. The only redeeming part of it was a belligerent fan chirping Ovi about his “nice tinted visor”

It’s a little geekie but not too bad.

It’s not a fashion choice, the purple visors are worn by players who have concussion history. Reduces strain on the eyes while playing. Bo Byram wears them periodically, among others
Necessary_Currency40
cool to see someone other than the “i almost got drafted” guy in beer leagues wear it

I dislike the Kraken

As others have stated, Geeks wears this because he had a concussion this season and the tint reduces eye strain.

Oakley makes visors in clear tints like that for hockey and football, called Prizm technology, and is becoming popular very fast

It’s not just for steez. It’s for the bright arena lights and concussion headaches.

No opinion. The helmet/visor battle is decades over, arguing over which *color* visor is most or least macho or nerdy seems pretty silly

Didn’t ovechkin get in trouble for something similar?
4cupdynasty80-83
not for me. but I think about it differently seeing the post explain the concussion issue.

I’m going to pretend that I didn’t know that it was to reduce eye strain and help reduce concussion symptoms and say:
Yeah, I wish all players could customize their equipment in more small ways. Wouldn’t it be great if every player was identifiable by their skates, visors, maybe small helmet stickers as goalies are by their helmets? I idolized Manny Fernandez as a kid, would I have been as into him if he wore a forest green helmet with the word TOYOTA printed on the side? Fuck no!

I’d still give him a smooch.

PURPLE, for all the reasons!!!

I truly could not give a fuck what colour the visors are

I’m a fan of the purple tint for function and fashion. The Climate Pledge helmet sticker and arena naming rights on the other hand are greenwashing at its finest. How did the team travel to Dallas? Riding bikes?
KinkyMrz
I don’t think we really should have an opinion on their use.. i mean they wear it for health issues.

I like it but I just love purple in general.
I like it, gives a cool flair.
