McCabe hit on Eyssimont – Have your say!

Jake McCabe had another big hit in Game One, this time taking out Michael Eyssimont. There was no penalty on this play. Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. Another hit where the hitter does not need to explode up into the hit for it to be effective and likely devastating, but chooses to try to hurt the puck carrier.

  2. Illegal check to the head. Shoulder first point of contact with his face. Should have been a major as well.

  3. This is really borderline to me. I feel like he hits chest and head at the same time, not sure what the rule is on that. Clearly isn't going for the head. He doesn't absurdly burst upward. You see him lean low trying to get the chest before impact. Any upwards motion is just him standing upright after contact. The chicken wing is a common follow through. Eyssimont is short and leaning over. I can see it going either way. I typically think most of Trouba's hits are clean, and I put this right in the same ballpark, really. Less explosion than Trouba usually does, anyway

  4. I'd just like to point to the fact that the head snapped back first upon contact, along with Eyssimont looking dizzy as he went down. This points to the injury being a result of the hit, not with any contact the head would make with the ice. Nine times out of ten I'm saying this is an illegal check to the head. Probably not intentional, probably not a major or match, but more than likely a penalty.

  5. The head was the primary point of contact with the shoulder. It’s also important to note that the hit caused an injury. I would expect a 1 game suspension although I think it’s worth 3

  6. a pretty clear hit to the head that injured a player… should be reviewed and at least a 1 game suspension… but with Bunting already getting suspended for a much worse hit, McCabe probably gets away scott free…

  7. watching at at the 0:23 angle on .25x it kinda looks like he flinches or loses an edge on his left skate.. his head comes up because of it and is probably kind of lucky that happened considering where McCabe's contact is. Has to be one of the most borderline hits I've seen in a while. Might end up getting a game but honestly I'm really not sure..

  8. Low elbow, coasted to the hit, didn't leave his feet, tucked and lowered his stance. Clean hit, the head was unavoidable. Boys your taught to be head up at all times. He got caught looking at his reflection on the ice. CLEAN HIT

  9. Shoulder to the jaw and then he tried to follow with the elbow. Clearly his intent was to injure. Dirty hit, no ifs and or buts . The Leafs were intentionally trying to injure from the get go. This is blatantly obvious. The league should be looking at this series with a microscope from here on out.

  10. Initial contact isn't the issue. you can't "clear out" with your elbow like he did and say "good hit". Ref missed that one. Leafs fans have done nothing but cry about the officiating that game but they got a big mulligan here.

  11. Borderline, but least with his shoulder. Wasn't as bad as the super late hit from behind McCabe was victim of
