Articles are out in Czech language so far only, but sadly Klíma has been found dead today in his apartment, only 58 years of age. No closer info yet.

He was a great goalscorer, and part of underrated Wings team.

RIP.

Legend. IIRC, he was the wings’ first player from the Eastern Bloc

So sad. Went to highschool with his daughter. Really nice family from my limited experience, didn’t know them very well but it was cool having other Czechs in school. Both of his twin sons are on teams over in Czechia as well, so sad. Rest in Peace Mr. Klima.

This upsets me. He was one of my first favorite players when I was getting into hockey as a kid.

Just awful news. I had the chance to play under him when I was younger, about 8-12, he coached a number of different aged teams in the metro-Detroit area. I played for him for four years and my brother played for him for about 3 years. He was my idol when I was younger, not just because of what he did when he played, but he taught me everything growing up and how to love the game of hockey. I can’t write enough words to emphasize the impact he had on me as someone so young with a growing love for the game. He was a tough coach as you would expect, but that’s why his teams were successful, and many players under him went on to play at a high level. In the summers he would have me and a few other teammates come to his house and train with him and his kids. This man showed so much kindness to me and my family. At such a young age I idolized, so much so I even wore his 85 number as my jersey for a year playing under him. Klima had some great on ice accomplishments, but I’d argue his off ice accomplishments were just as, if not more, amazing. RIP to the best coach I ever played for and an amazing father and friend
