I like Chris Kreider so you all need to calm down.

I’m not sure why this sub loses their mind anytime I make a criticism of Kreider. I literally had a post where I said every player wearing an A, and Troubas C should be ripped off. And I standby that. Their is no leader on this team. I thought maybe Trouba was throughout the year but he proved me SO wrong in tue playoffs with his pathetic play. Everyone not name Igor Shesterkin should be ashamed of how they played in the playoffs Carolina just showed how pathetic we looked. I called out so many players but you all lost your mind when I said Kreider disappointed me in game 7. He did. But why do you all get mad at any criticism of him? Is he your favorite player? Is it because he’s been here for 10+ years? Is it because he’s just a likable guy? What’s the problem? How are any of you satisfied with tue way he played in game 7? I’m so serious. I ripped on Panarin more than Kreider. Kreider wasn’t our worst player, but he wasn’t good when he needed to be. I expect out star players to show up when it matters. He didn’t, I’m sorry to break it to everyone but he didn’t. He wasn’t the only one but he is not free of criticism because of the first two games

Chris Kreider is a Rangers legend happening before our eyes and we should all be thankful he loves this team.

Players like Chris Kreider don’t grow on trees, especially for 6.5mil AAV

  2. Nobody’s happy with the way he played in game 7. He’s not the focus of the criticism because he scored 6 goals, more than the rest of the pathetic top 6 combined. There’s plenty of players to call out in this series, Chris Kreider really isn’t one of them.

He’s the only reason they even made it to game 7…game 6 was all him. Nobody is saying he was good in game 7 but he’s the only non-Igor that played well imo

This is some main character syndrome shit

Carolina literally played exactly the way the Rangers did in Game 1 of our series. I think perhaps you need to look in the mirror and calm down.

Not many are going to escape criticism over this series, and Kreider will get his fair share of the blame. But on the totem pole of “who needed to show up and didn’t” Kreider is actually kind of low on the list.

He’s not a star player. I think we all know his 50 goal season was a fluke. Special for sure but a once in a career thing. The reality is that he’s a very specialized tool. A rare combination of speed and size that can create problems on a breakaway or be a blocking/redirecting force on the powerplay. But thats really all he is.

Is his 6.5 million a lot for someone who does what he does? Maybe. Would trading him have been the more logical move to do back in the Winter of 2020? Probably. Will we begin to feel the effect of his contract? I think we’re already there. But in a 7 game series, for 3 games he did his job, and thats a lot more than I can say for a few guys who are getting paid quite a bit more.

You can defend your comments all you want, I guess your entitled to your own shitty opinion about him not deserving to be wearing a letter.

The only player that should be immune from criticism after that series is igor. Krieder showed up more than most other players, but he also disappeared with the rest of the team in the losses. Him and trouba are our veteran leaders who should set the tone and both have in the past (see ipad smash and helmet toss) so it feels weird that neither was able to when we were so clearly on the back foot. I’m guessing something happened behind closed doors.

That being said, if you’re looking for someone to blame for the loss based on play, he’s pretty far down the list. Right now you wouldn’t dream of trading his contract.

  9. Elite power play and net front guy, great clutch performer… but also basically completely invisible outside of those areas far too often. That will be the story of his career. He always leaves you wanting more. We’ve been over this a thousand times in here. He has average to slightly below average puck skills, an alright shot, and elite straight-line speed. He should be an amazing forechecker because of his size, but he isn’t because he rarely uses it. He relies on others for his production and is not a true top line talent like the other net-front master Joe Pavelski.

If you were to re-shape the core, he and Panarin would be the guys you look to move if you could, whether the fans like it or not.

Kreider is amongst the best ever at deflection and tip in goals.

That being said, this past season he was terrible at most other things. He rarely makes the correct pass and usually is just able to continue a cycle at best. Most of the times he kills possession.

He still performs a much needed and not easily replaced job which is controlling the front of the opponent’s net. But I do not like that his main and only contribution relies on someone else to facilitate it. He does not create on his own.

i kind of agree with you. even with his ‘good’ games he’s invisible until he scores.

scoring on the powerplay is great but 5 on 5 play is where you win games and he’s mediocre 5 on 5 in my opinion. just look at edmonton… they got outplayed hard by vegas but two powerplay goals kept them in it…

point is, tough to win a stanley cup with a niche powerplay one trick goal scorer.

  13. This is a really strange thread. You say in the title people need to calm down about him, but then you shit all over him in the thread.. Fuckin weird man. Your takes are also garbage. You really should just delete this and save yourself the embarrassment of having it saved to your profile.
