Agreed hits like this don't belong in hockey. Yes being tired probably play a factor, but at the end of the day he made a mistake and has to pay for it. I think it's a huge stretch to use a knee from 8 years ago as a reference point for an argument though.
I think the bigger issue is DoPS inconsistencies, even as recently as the Mark Stone hit. DoPS has a hard job, but there should be some sort of a standardization for these types of suspension from these types of hits, which we don't seem to have.
