When You ACCIDENTALLY Break A World Record

Before there was Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell set the standard for 100 meter speed.

  1. Powell always peaked around September which would be post Olympics or World's hence making him seem like a choker. I highly doubt that. He always went into championships with a lower seasons best than the winning time.

  2. Well, nothing. You explained he reduces speed last 25 meters, so, maybe that "jog" was lack of gas. Maybe that that's it.

  3. Dude, eased up for 30m? You show yourself in the splits that he flat out sprinted for 90m, eased up significantly only 5-7m from the line. This data presented right here in this very video shows he only eased up over that last few metres in the final split. He probably had an extra 4-5/100ths there over the last 10m and maybe 1/100th in the 90m split. Gives him about 9.68- 9.69 just like Gay and Blake – probably about a fair reflection of his actual ability if you took away the unfortunate mental fragility and performance anxiety.

  4. Exactly what he finished with. No second chances. U Bolt eased up some too, and he got exactly what he go, as well.

  5. People always overestimate how much time you lose by coasting in the last 5 meters, he lost almost nothing here

  6. Massive shame pressure got to him because he's definitely one of the most speedy and gracefully spirinters of all time.
Wish he had the GOLDS to show for it.

  7. I love track, but Carl Lewis always gave it his all. So tired of seeing these guys pull up and stop trying. Just weak minded and spoiled. You only have to run 100 meters and you can't even do that. Time is most important when you're an elite sprinter not the race. That's what's weak about it. They can't even see they are running for a spot in history with such talent. Great sprinters only have a small window to lower the World record. Plus the fans who are paying them indirectly deserve a better showing

  8. Bolt went from a string bean teenager to a frame of a professional football tight end all on his own? I don't buy it sorry.

  9. Glad you did this video but both bolt and Powell do this in final metered they relax and slow up

  10. As an ex mediocre sprinter, It pissed me off when a talented guy like that doesn't put all effort to finish the race, and often time there are few very special occasions in career where they are at their peak and nice track, external conditions, often times these moments will not presents no more, I truly believe that Bolt giving his best time, nice wind, no prelims, all out he could have ran 9'40 and under 19 seconds 200m

  11. I hate how sprinters do this. Why not run every race at 100%? It's annoying to see knowing they could've improved their own PB's or even WR's in the process.
