The right play was to fire him a few months ago when they were struggling and replace him with Barry Trotz. Trotz was waiting for this to happen. If you recall he said he would only coach an original 6 team and at that time the Rangers were the only team to likely make a change.
Should have been Drury. Getting Kane, messed with the chemistry. Panarin,not being able to deliver @11.5 mill a yr. In the Playoffs Is just down right unacceptable. He has Playoff anxiety,not good
As if he was the problem with the Rangers losing to the Devils. Perhaps when the Devils lose in this round, the Ranger's can hire Lindy and the Devils can hire Turk!
14 teams in the league had 100 points seasons my friend it’s not a big accomplishment anymore. Gallant Was fired because he doesn’t have a system he doesn’t have a strategy and he cannot adapt when other teams make changes. There is a reason why he has never lasted three seasons behind any bench he’s ever been behind. An overrated crappy NHL hockey coach
He was NOT fired. It was a mutual agreement which means he quit rather than face potential firing. Theres a big difference. In Canuck land they dont have the brains to figure this out. So let me enlighten you.. The Rangers, Drury and Dolan, did not want to ruin Gallants chances of coaching again so they took the diplomatic way out. If they wanted to fire him, they could have,they didnt. So stop the media buzz BS with firing and call it what it is, a mutual separation.
The irony is that Devils fans were upset when we Gallant rejected us to wait for the Rangers and we ended up Ruff who witch was a major dissapointment for us at the time.
You have to give coaches at least 3-4 years before you decide on keeping or firing them. Everyone wants instant gratification these days. That's like wanting everything to go perfect no mistakes

Mark Messier will be a great pic. He wants to coach the Rangers. I know he would be a first time coach but he knows how to win.
