Wanted to share this picture from my favorite childhood memory

This was back in 2001 when I was nine years old.

Backstory:

I was born with several birth defects in my left leg and had numerous surgeries growing up. After one of them, I got a staff infection at the incision site that left me in the hospital for 9 days.

My cousin played softball with Paul Holmgren’s (who was the assistant GM at the time) daughter, so my Aunt and Uncle had a connection to him. After my hospital stay, they told Holmgren about me and the hard time I was going through. They let him know I was a big Flyers fan and asked if it would be possible for some players to send me a signed card. He told them that they could do better than that.

Holmgren, Justin Williams, Brian Boucher, Todd Fedoruk, and Jessie Boulerice came to visit me at my home and spent the day with me! They gave me a game used autographed stick from John LeClair and played NHL Live with me (I beat them!). Was such an amazing experience and helped me get through a tough time in my life.

I know this sub has soured on Holmgren as the results of the past decade have been less than stellar, and I agree it’s time to start moving the franchise in a different direction, but will always be so appreciative to him for setting this up!

Hoping this post brings good vibes that will shift the odds in our favor tonight, give us that number 1 overall 🤞

Let’s go Flyers!!!
