Concept jerseys & logo for Utah expansion team: Utah Yeti

I’ve been messing around with design and decided it would be fun to make some concept jerseys. These are the first concepts I’ve done. Let me know what you think!

Utah is home to many Bigfoot sightings so I chose bigfoots snowy counterpart as my mascot, the Yeti. The color pallet is made of white and cool blues to represent the snow and ice of the northern Utah mountains. (It’s April 21st and still snowing here) The mountain feature in the back is a nod to the local nba team the Utah Jazz.

For my alternate I pulled inspiration from the red rocks and desert of southern Utah and included the famous delicate arch above the name plate.

They look pretty dope. As a Utahan, I’d rock one of these if that’s what the jerseys looked like.

  2. popculturetommy

Those are cool. BUTTTTT…does it seem to similar to the Avalanche? Since they already use the Yeti footprint?

  3. The team name will be the Salt Lake Reggae. The city needs two teams that honour music that has nothing to do with Utah.

Please draw a logo for that.

I like it, but I’m more excited for the minor league team, the “Utah Ancient Trans-oceanic Wooden Submarines,” which comes from the local culture’s Native American origin theories.

Eh I’m sorry but I’m not a fan.

Colors just don’t look good to me. And they’re too similar to Seattle

  6. Sarkosuchus

I like the design. I would prefer “Yetis” though. I prefer if team sports with multiple players use plural names.

Edit: Thinking about it further, I only dislike singular animal names, not all singular names.

  7. FumblinginIgnorance

I think the team name should be the Cutthroats, the state fish is the Cutthroat trout so it works.

  8. grimmdrum

Seems super inspired by the Kraken uniforms.

  9. RustyMacbeth

Nah. I like the idea of having a rival in the central Rockies but I think the name should be a play on the beehive: Salt Lake City Stingers, or the Utah Swarm. They would play in the Beehive.

  10. Pacific-Teal96

Love the orange design- some homage and tribute to the Utah Jazz alternatives 👏🏽

  11. Peek0_Owl

If anything it would be the Salt lake cult recruiters…

  12. Imisaacgames

Too bad the Salt Lake is going away and Salt Lake City is actively getting poisoned. But it’s still a really cool design.

Love to see a team in Utah. But please put a
    Teams in Hamilton / Quebec / Halifax / Hartford / Milwaukee/ Houston/ KC / Portland / Saskatoon

  14. Cheefnuggs

I do not think yeti when I think of Utah at all. I don’t see the association whatsoever.

  15. Grizzly_Addams

I think it’s good. I can guarantee all of the naysayers would have hated concepts of any of the past 5 expansion teams.

  16. Crashtest_Fetus

Toxic Avengers would be a fitting name too , with the lake drying out.

  17. Outrageous-Spend2494

    Just bring back the whalers

  18. illdieyoung

I’d love to see a Utah Raptors concept! I also love the idea of a potential team using Wasatch rather than Utah or Salt Lake as part of the name. i.e. Wasatch Raptors

  19. MrAbadeer

Dig it. Especially the mountain range on the back.

  20. SawgrassSteve

I like the Yeti. See if you can repurpose the patch logo for Yeshiva University.

I thought a Utah expansion team might be called the Lakers, the Moabites, or the Golden Spikes (to commemorate the transcontinental railroad’s completion.

  21. Grand-Imagination925

    Looks like Winnipeg Ice logo

  22. kcchiefroyal

I’d be anxious to see more of your concepts

  23. ThreeSnowshoes

I’m going to have to be a little harsh here.

That’s an abomination. And the Avalanche already have a Yeti footprint on their shoulder patch.

  24. Desperate-Peter-Pan

1/5 is really cool! If the Devils can be named after a local legend, why not Utah?

  25. leaponover

Google says Utah is known for Mormons, pastrami burgers and the Sundance Film Festival. Can confirm they’ll never get a team.
