  1. I approve this deal. We needed to get rid of the Backes contract. Our first is essentially a second rounder anyway, plus we get a talented player back in Kase. The right side of the B's D is set for years to come, making Axel expendable.

  2. As a Leafs fan, I feel like Boston fleeced Anaheim. Especially with how late that 1st will be.

    Ugh

  3. what a fucking steal for boston, maybe the steal of the deadline besides demelo. i dont know how sweeney and co. managed to pull this off.

  4. It’s hard to “declare a winner” on this trade, both sides got what they needed. Only think that might make Anaheim the winners is if Axel and that 1st rounder turn out as they hope as you said.

  5. As a ducks fan it sucks that we lose kase. Would have prefered to somehow dump like henrique or someone pushing 30 rather a guy in his mid-20's. I think kase hasn't reached his peak and he's only 24. Is the return for kase good enough? Idk axel looks like a maybe leaning towards perhaps a powerplay bottom pairing guy? The first will be like 26-31, but its a deep draft but who knows. I personally think we could've gotten more(not specifically from bruins but in general) for kase even with injury issues, and taking on backes doesnt matter bc its not like we are gonna sign anyone important before that contract is done. The issue with the ducks is we have guys like getzlaf, henrique, cam fowler, etc that aren't gonna be useful because we have a rebuild so we need to trade them for picks/prospects. Hell gibson might be burnt out by the time we are ready for playoff pushes again. We need defense prospects for sure but moving a young forward i don't think was the right move. I think management percieves us needing a retooling whereas what we really need is a firesale of anyone 28+. Taking on bad contracts like backes for prospects and picks is also good but i don't know if a 24 year old guy who yes has injuries but shows the potential to right now put up 41 points in 82 games and still has time to find his stride before his prime is the right move. Overall I don't like this trade at face value and i hope axel works into atleast a top 4 d spot and that the first rounder can be a top 4 d or top 9 forward. If neither happens i will be really dissapointed and will probably look back on this trade with disdain and pain

  6. As a Bruins fan, I think the bruins got a good young player back for pieces that we don’t need now and Kase will hopefully be here for the foreseeable future

  7. regular season rankings dont matter. The first place team can easily get knocked out first round. biased bruin fan haha

  8. It's a win-win deal, but IF I have to take a pick now, Bruins won. Not hands down, but won. In couple of years we know better, but for now, Bruins won by short. Win-Win, good deal for both teams.

  9. As much as I hate the Bruins, this is a total win for them. I get you don't declare a winner until the all aspects are done with. but the Bruins got exactly what they needed to compete for a cup and really gave up just the 1st. Backes is useless cap space, and Andersson had no future in Boston. Bruins already have McAvoy and Carlo at RD, so unless Andersson was seen as a future 3rd pairing guy that they desperately didn't wanna move, he's more than expendable. 3rd pairing d are easy to find, Andersson really didn't have much value to Boston. The fact that Anaheim didn't exploit that to get more outta Boston is ridiculous. Straight win for Boston.
