Let me know your expectations for the Red Wings
The Wings flirted with the playoffs longer than virtually anybody expected heading into the season. Finishing 2nd to last in the division was to be expected. Ottawa and Buffalo are plainly more talented teams that are further along in their rebuilds than Detroit. It could realistically be another 3 to 5 years before Detroit is any better than a team that sneaks into the playoffs. Depends on how their prospects develop. I totally disagree with the idea that goaltending should be an offseason focus. They drafted a 1st round goalie just two years ago and he's currently getting his feet wet in the ECHL. I do NOT expect Detroit to make much of a step forward this offseason. Unless some of their young players make huge leaps forward then I think the Wings will be back drafting around 10th to 12th in 2024.
Imagine Larkin, who canāt even do 50 goal scores in a season, is now getting paid more than Stamkos, who is a 60 goal scorerā¦ thatās why I didnāt agree with Larkinās deal
if hellebyuck wants out of winnepeg then he should be detroits number one guy to go for
Mock trades:
To NJD: 2023 2nd rd
Filip Zadina
To DET: Alexander Holtz
Mock trade 2:
To OTT: 2023 1st rd (DET)
Ben Chiarot
To DET: Alex DeBrincat
Mathieu Joseph
Hard pass. Stick to 18-22 yr old kids with upsides none of these guys will help the wings win cups
Bias wings fan wants:
In – hellebuyck, scheifele, j.t. Miller, nylander, or debrincat.
Out – zadina, and chariot.
Would love to see Steve move up in the draft to select closer to the top 5
With the departures of Bertuzzi and Hronek the Wings will have to do a lot to push into the playoffs.
Detroit mock trade: Detroit trades N.Y.I. 2023 1st 17th overall and Filip Zadina to the Winnipeg Jets for Kyle Connor.
Go after Kyle Connor or Michkov if he's available after fifth.
Bertuzzi's injuries and Vrana's issues set the Wings back. I believe the Wings will be much better with prospects making a jump to the line up. My feeling is that Stevie will make some great trades in the off season and may utilize the two first round picks and three second round picks. Don't be surprised if they go after players like Kyle Connor and maybe Debrincat. UFA decisions could be made and guys brought in like Severson from the Devils, Matt Dumba both RD. Another possibility is Scheifele or Nylander from Toronto. I expect if Toronto gets eliminated in the second round that there may be moves. Bring in Aidan Hill as your 1B goalie.
The Detroit fans need to be patient with the YzerPlan–the Red Wings are a middle of the road team tight now, currently behind the Senators and Sabres in the rebuild race but they have a lot of talent and should improve next season–playoff team again? Not yet, but they should be more competitive next season.
Red Wings seem to need a little bit of everything to move forward drastically, but 2-3 key pieces may go a long way. 1) Power forward to replace Bertuzzi 2) Top 4 D 3) Solid experienced goalie who's okay to go tandem with Husso. Debrincat would be good if he's going to be available . McKenzie Blackwood would be worth a try. He's been struggling, but when healthy and confident, can be an excellent goalie. Cam Talbot… well.. no.. As for D core.. not sure, Dumba will be available, but need more d minded player. I see Wings moving up, and making stronger push for playoff spot next season.
