if we win cup, he should absolutely get a statue of this outside pnc

i just wanted to say some of the “fire rod” takes we saw earlier in the season was some of the most brain-dead shit i’ve ever seen on this sub

we are winning, and looking good doing it, with an incredibly depleted lineup – and it’s happening because of rod’s system, and the FO identifying players that can play it well.

the current lineup doesn’t have any real high-end scoring talent on it outside of aho yet we’ve put up 21 goals in four games this series. you don’t do that unless you have a system that works

and a few people on here wanted him gone because we went through some rough stretches this season and we had a couple early playoff exits. smdh. winning a playoff series is damn hard and things don’t always go your way. but suddenly people started acting like rod and the FO could only win games in the “soft” regular season

meanwhile look at the coaching carousels some of these other teams have had due to knee-jerk firings and see where that’s gotten them

I dropped off a Facebook group when brain dead idiots started the “Fire Rod” shit during our brief slump.

Seriously, Rod saved hockey in the Carolinas and these idiots are too dumb to recognize it.

Before he revitalized the team, the Canes were a perfect target for relocation.

If we lost the Canes, we’d lose Stormy…We’d lose the siren…

We’d never get introduced to the storm surge and we’d never get Burns 5 years later.

If we lost the Canes my kids couldn’t grow up hating the Rangers and learn to feel empathy for the talented goalies stuck there, waiting to age into a cupless retirement.

My kids would be blissfully unaware that Toronto really isn’t a hockey town, or why everyone hates Montreal and the way they spell Canadians.

My son wouldn’t know why Erik Haula is such a bitch.

We as Canes Fans wouldn’t experience the elation of a flawless victory with the world laid before you like a picnic on a spring day…..and learn to balance that feeling with the taste of bitter defeat when you get shut out by a bottom feeder team you were sure wouldn’t show up.

Life would not be empty, but it would certainly be less full.

Thank you Rod for saving Carolina hockey.

Thank you Rod for saving us all.

    IN ROD WE TRUST
I’ve always loved the captain and watching him play, and you couldn’t miss him because he was always on the ice.
When he got hired as asst coach I thought his mentality would help the locker room but that’s it, and who would’ve thought all these years he would be an amazing A+ coach. That’s a whole different level.
You shall not doubt Rod The Bod!!

No one personifies the club and what we stand for more than Rod. We’re a consistent, well-oiled machine. Next man up mentality has us leading NJ 3-1 in the second round. Five playoff appearances in a row, three consecutive division titles, and no first round exits as coach should speak for itself. Give him the job for as long as he wants it.

He’s an absolute beaut. What more is there to say

Raleigh really doesn’t have “sports icons”, not in a traditional sense… We can at best claim stakes in some people who fit the bill, like Jim Valvano maybe. Some people have moments, like David Ayers, or call us home, like John Wall.

Rod Brind’amour is the only *sports hero* our city has ever really had. The image of him lifting the Cup is already permanently etched into NHL lore, and it’s very possible that he’s not done with his legacy here in that regard. He’s unmatched here, in a place without any deep sporting history.
