Reposed, thank you to u/TheGreatestPlan for pointing out our weird headline. Article not paywalled.

We know very little about what actually happened, but if (and I really really stress that if) the worst thing he did was buy a hooker and have a substance abuse problem then I don’t see any reason he wouldn’t continue with the team long-term as long as he gets sober.

This is a bit crass, but if NHL teams voided contracts for a player ordering an escort on the road, you’d probably see a lot more voided contracts.

That says nothing… truly, “hoping” and “is going to be” are huge differences.

Hoping to be part of the team, and BEING part of the team, are two very different things.

Either way, idgaf about what he did/didn’t do, what I care about is that he hurt the team.

I’ve never thought of athletes as role models, just people that are excellent at something, which is entertaining. So nothing changes for me, about him.

If this is the result of him doing something that demands discipline outside of a substance abuse problem, I think fans are owed an explanation.

The language being used is not very confidence inspiring and makes it seem like he gone.

Fucking hope so. Revive this guys career, give him the bag only for him to fuck around when the team needed him most
