No, Mike Sullivan is NOT going to the Rangers!

More rumors and details have come out about the Pittsburgh Penguins general manager search and that’s where Hunter starts for this episode of the Locked On Penguins podcast. He dives into Frank Seravalli’s report on how the front office is going to have a similar structure to the last one while also looking at a few of the candidates that have reportedly gotten interviews. Hunter is a bit skeptical about most of these names getting to the second round of interviews and he explains why before discussing how Frank is likely getting this information. Hunter also discusses why it’s fine for the Penguins to be casting such a wide net since the first round of interviews isn’t even over yet. After that, Hunter explains why Mike Sullivan is not going to the New York Rangers. He goes into how Sullivan is involved with the GM search (though he won’t have the final say) and how FSG picked him over Hextall at the end of this season. Oh yeah, he also is signed for four more years. Finally, Hunter analyzes the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and why it has been a total dud compared to the first round.

  1. I'm literally so confused how Rangers fans and media convinced themselves that they're getting Mike Sullivan. It makes zero sense, Sullivan has the backing of ownership and he is said to be aiding in the new GM search, and plus he just signed an extension. I think those factors make it pretty obvious that he's not going anywhere.

  2. Sully is my fav coach of all time. With this being said he is on a short leash with us this coming year

  3. It’s gonna be rough,I see it working out like the late 90’s all over again Sid will go to Montreal then darkness for 5 years 😢

  4. If the new GM doesn't get rid of Sully, nothing changes… Several players have hinted, or, as Jeff Petry did, outright said that the core and most of the players don't pay attention to the coach and play how they want to play.
If Sully's still the coach, next season, we'll continue to see two, or more, goal leads blown, as happened twelve times this season. We'll continue to see the team come out completely disinterested in even taking the ice and getting blown out, as happened eight times this season.

Let Sully go to NY, he'll do about as much as Gallant did, until the team loses interest in his coaching.
