What the NHL needs to do is have a transparent review of their referees the day after games cause this crew did a BAD job on both sides and let this get out of hand. They are almost as responsible as Pietrangelo for that blatant intent to injure. He was clearly frustrated but should have been two-handing the refs not Drai….

The referring in the playoffs is terrible, maybe the nhl should suspend the refs for their unprofessional jobs they are doing throughtout the nhl playoffs.
Look back to game 2. Pietrangelo hacked Bjukstad in the same manner…received a 2min for that one

That has to be one of the "greatest" slashes of all time. That's crazy. That to me is a series ending suspension. That looks way out of line, especially for a veteran like pietro, that really is not a hockey play at all.

Also the refs in this series need to be talked to. Missing stuff left and right. Both McDavid and Draisaitl hack away at people with the puck, Vegas is doing it back and nothing. Stone has every right to be pissed at that missed cross check. Just crazy inconsistent with how they’re calling the games – and it seems to depend on who is doing it which is crazy. Last I checked a slash from 97 and 29 is the same as from anybody else in the league. They just don’t get called.
I think there should be ejections for bodybchecking too???…..common NHL…..grow some balls and lettem play.
The Yammy crosscheck happens about 25 times a game without a call. It just looked worse because Stone was off balance already.

I feel there should be a rule where if you wind up for a slash like that, it should be an automatic 1-2 game suspension with potential for more.

Take fighting entirely out of the game. If you fight you are out of the game. And why don’t players wear a full face shield like they have to do in the Juniors? A puck or stick to the face would be far less serious. Could also make it that a hit from behind is an automatic ejection, especially into the boards like Cogs on Colorado.

The fact is Pietrangelo targeted the most impactful Oilers player with a dirty slash. To say there was intent to injure or not is up to debate, but an over the head 2-handed slash to Draisaitl's hands has no good intent or is apart of any play that is happening on the ice. It was a dirty slash with bad intentions on the most impactful player on the Oilers. The fair thing to do is 2-3 games just because Pietrangelo is trying to alter the series via injury. Pietrangelo tried to impact the series, not that game, with an illegal play should make him ineligible for the rest of the series.
I'd love to see a video of all the dirty plays and the suspensions they received because the nhl is not looking so fair.
There's really not much to think about. The NHL player safety and officiating is a joke. All of this could have been prevented if they had done literally anything about all the incidents that precipitated this obvious logical conclusion
