  1. Amazing first podcast! Locked on has some competition now, haha (I'll probably just spend double the time listening Hehe)

  2. Crushed it guys!! Really happy to see this podcast born. Big things coming ahead.

  3. Very professional stuff guys. Great to see more Sens content on the youtube. I think a contrary/dissenting voice with a couple of hot takes could really add some spice. On that note I'd love to come on some time and talk.
Great stuff guys, keep it coming.

  4. Dorion needs to know its time for a new coach in the room we have the best forward core in the league and very good top 4 I think DeBrincat said he wanted to see about new owner would do

  5. Remember guys this is the first time G got 35 goals in his career. I believe the cat will sign because he knows how close all the players are to one another not only on the ice but off the ice also. He sees they are hungry to win and make the playoffs. As far as D.J. Smith, he has developed this team great but I do believe he will be back next year. The thing is though if they do not make the playoffs this following season coming, I believe he will be let go.

  6. DJ needs to go, he doesn't have the skill or knowledge to get the players better. The top 6 are naturals, they will improve on their own. The bottom six is the issue. They need coaching to improve and we haven't seen it with DJ. Our bottom 6 was actually worst at the end of the season then at the beginning. DJ needs to go for this team to make the playoffs next year.

  7. The big thing about PD is he is not seeing us as a playoff team even for next year, like what? Ian's article was awesome calling PD about is 2019 comments.

  8. Im gonna answer what to do with #12. Trade him. Try to see if you can get a deal with the Jets and get Pierre-Luc Dubois to fill Debrincat's spot. Its the power-forward you need that can produce and win puck battles that line lacked heavily. If you need the full deal, trade Debrincat, Brannstrom and a pick or Thomson to the Jets and get Pierre-Luc Dubois and Dylan Demelo. As much as people like the defense, and I do too, the biggest issue is getting that $8M defenseman going..Chabot..and he had the most success playing with Demelo. I would try hard to get him back, and Dubois gives the second line a lot of versatility if Norris and Dubois can both play the left wing. If they both can, now you can match lines by simply moving around who plays wing and down the middle, and if there is an injury to Norris, Pinto or Stutzle, Dubois just slots right in. Jets get a 40 goal scorer and and by swapping Brannstrom with Demelo, the Jets free up the cap space to re-sign Debrincat as Brannstrom will still be a cheap contract. Adding a pick or Thomson is the icing on the cake to get that deal done, and if it happens Hamonic doesn't re-sign, they gonna need a Demelo to pair with Chabot.

In goal, I look at no other than James Reimer. Hes a UFA, a consistently solid goaltender who can easily be your 1A or 1B, and came off a $2.25AAV contract, so even if you get him at 2X3, its a cheaper deal than Talbot and a better one.

For depth, I get rid of Gambrell, I trade Joseph, and rid of Gauthier, put Grieg on the wing, and go get Garrett Hathaway who will be a UFA from the Bruins. Another solid power-forward who can help the third line, again win those puck battles, and generate offense instead of getting pinned. This setup of the third line can also work like the second line, that if Pinto and Grieg can play the wing, you can move the agitator around. To me, that is how you win on the road, which is the achilles heel of this team. You get harder to play against if your lines can be unpredictable and still produce. If Hockey Canada gets resolved and Formenton can get re-signed, put him on the third line and move Grieg to the fourth line and keep Brown around till Tyler Boucher is ready, with a future 4th line of Grieg-Kastellic-Boucher. Re-sign Hamonic, Pinto and this team should rock if the lineup looked like this IF these changes were made while staying cap compliant..

    Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
    Dubois-Norris-Batherson
    Grieg-Pinto-Hathaway
    Kelly-Kastellic-Brown

    Sanderson-Zub
    Chabot-Demelo
    Chychrun-Hamonic

    Reimer
    Forsberg

How good does that look? 🙂 Now if Dorion is thinking of giving 8X8 to Sanderson, you really gotta think about trading Chabot. There is no way you can keep both Sanderson and Chabot and be able to re-sign Chychrun, especially with who they have waiting in the wings in their prospect pool with guys like Kleven, Hamara and Donovan..Chabot is a guy who can be replaced with a cheaper contract, especially if Kleven is NHL ready after next season, and they can't have 3 defensemen making huge bucks. It just doesn't work.

  9. If the Bolts loose to the Leafs, Jon Cooper will be fired. Ottawa should jump and get him right away. We need an experience coach that has WON. I would also love them to bring Jacques Martin as an assistant. For me the whole coaching staff in Ottawa needs to go. Time to get to the next level NOW. I don't think PD is GM with new ownership.

  10. sanderson should always be on the first powerplay, chabot can go to the 2nd

  11. They need to trade DeBrincat! Get a second line guy and players for the third and fourth line or a legitimate starting goalie. We cannot afford DeBrincat with Sanderson and Pinto needing contracts soon! Need that cap space to fill out the team better imo. DJ Smith cannot be back behind the bench this upcoming season. This team would be in the playoffs right now if they had a competent coach. From roster decisions, lines, style of play, getting out coached regularly and the constant excuses and low bar set. He has got to go or they will not make the playoffs next year guaranteed! Doesn't matter what the players say about DJ, of course first line players are going to like the coach getting all the opportunity, it's not about that…it's about winning, not making a country club atmosphere for the players. Chychrun did not ask for a trade btw, the team approached him about trading him.

  12. Good luck guys …. Don’t agree on Debrincat ….rather use that money on bottom six and goaltending. Build a team that can win in playoffs not just make them.

  13. Giroux signed with the Sens knowing DJ would be the coach. That has to be at least some kind of endorsement.

  14. Changes at the assistant coach level is another possibility. Look at what Brunette did for the Devils this year.

  15. Great production guys. Good luck with this. I didn't make it to the end with all the complaining, but I am excited to see your future episodes.

  16. I’ve been onboard this podcast since way back, like, the very first episode.

  17. Great job guys. I think DeBrincat is gone though. Quotes from his interviews "Yeah I was shocked to be traded from Chicago", "I have friends there and all my wife's friends are there" . In his exit interview he was non-committal and said "i have to talk to my agent and my family". His wife is behind the wheel of that trade bus. They have a brand new baby and she wants to be around her friends with him. "You don't know the power of the wife side." – Darth vader.
Plus I think Pierre knew he was going earlier. They were throwing a contract at talbot like the cap didn't exist.

  18. Glad you guys keep this positive. We don't need anymore Sens fans, like on Twitter, bringing that toxic stuff over to pods

  19. Debrincat/Norris/Batherson could be a really nice line as Norris and Batherson have good chemistry. But we only have one more year of Debrincat at best. I think a trade is the right move. My fantasyland move is trading Debrincat to Columbus. Columbus is close to Chicago, so Debrincat's camp (agent, wife) might push for that. Columbus is not in our division. Also, Columbus has multiple picks that the Sens could use – I think we could get a couple of third round picks in 23 and 24 from them as they have multiple picks in those rounds (which basically gets the Sens back the 2nd and 3rd given up for Debrincat). And the player from the Jackets I'd go after would be Boone Jenner. Jenner on Pinto's wing solidifies the third line, Jenner is some jam that is the kind of guy you want in the play-offs. and at this point in his career I would think Jenner wants a chance to win. And the big bonus is Jenner has a very friendly cap hit for three more years of 3.75 million dollars – which is money you need for Sanderson.

  20. 12:30 You guys said it perfectly. I've said this on "Locked Down" and "Sens Talk", the silence from Giroux regarding DJ speaks volumes and no other veterans sans Cam Talbot has said glowing things about DJ neither. With all respect Brady and Tim are speaking about the only Head Coach they know. I guarantee if Alex wants out it's because he doesn't believe in DJ utilizing his talent. Remember this is the same coach that said "that's what the NHL is all about being big and strong". Having two 5'7" guys is in direct conflict with DJ's views.
