After a memorable season that involved breaking franchise records and winning a playoff series for the first time since 2012, the New Jersey Devils had their historic run ended by the Carolina Hurricanes. The Devils had their best performance of the series and witnessed some unlikely heroes show out. Unfortunately, the Hurricanes defeated them in overtime on a game-winning power-play goal by Jesper Fast. Despite the heartbreaking loss, there were still a lot of positive takeaways. However, I still have some questions about the overall effort put up by the Devils in this series.

We’re still growing chest hair of experience. Majority of this youth gets much needed advice for future playoffs. Our biggest disappointments is bratt by far, Meier second that both are fighting for long term. I’m not keen on paying bratt north of 8 mil based on his performance overall especially invisible during the playoffs.
Bratt needs to go. It was like they were playing a man down. Anytime he had the puck it was an instant turn over. Dude is afraid to get hurt and it shows from the goal he didn't even bother to block from Burns. Guy can skate, but he's no hockey player.
Marino and Haula are playoff superstars.
Schmid was always a favorite replacement for Vitek throughout the season. Glad he got to shine in the playoffs. First NHL shut out in the regular and two shut outs in the playoffs. What a badass. Rangers Slayer.
Tough one for the Devils. Gonna be interesting to see what the offseason leading up to next season brings.
The season is over and what a season it was! Glad the boys went down swinging and played a great game. Came up short but they gained very valuable experience. The good news is that this team can only get better, and October is only 5 months away. 'Let's GO DEVILS
Get rid of Ruff, Smith, Blackwood, Wood, Severson, Graves and Sharongovich. Resign everyone else that is due.
If you can trade Hamilton just do it, he can't play defense.

I’m not even upset. We went out the right way, fighting. Not happy about that penalty or missing open nets though lol. McLeod was our playoff MVP, in my opinion. He really impressed me. I hope he takes a nice turn and continues to improve.

Signing Timo will be priority #1. The Devils do not win the Rangers series without him. Bratt bet on himself and I really feel like he lost some money in the playoffs. He's not making Hishier money, let alone Jack money. He will need to take a discount if he wants to stay.
Mike McLeod needs to be resigned. He elevated his game in this series. Sevo's gone, and it sucks. Graves – gone. Wood – gone. I think Foote can come up next fall and play on the 4th line. Resign Haula, and possibly Tatar if the ask is not too high.

Based on the regular season I wanted Tatar to stay if takes the discount. But now as the playoff is over I dont want him on the team. Despite Meier's and Palat's horrible misses it was Tatar who cost us the game and the series. Why, why on earth he passes the puck back in our D-zone and put Siegenthaler under pressure which lead to the penalty when he could get the puck forward into the offensive zone. I still cannot get over that dumb play. Tatar was a ghost in the playoffs. The most invisible Devil. He needs to go!!! P.S. Thanks Devils for the season!!!!!
I agree with your points, I think Devils need to get bigger up front. Sign Meier over Bratt. Trade Bratt for a larger forward up front if he does not want a reasonable contract.
I think Jack hurt his collarbone again. He was checked into the boards in Game 4 then was slow getting up. That's the same way he broke his collarbone last season

Thank you Trey. Subscribed early on in the season and have enjoyed the ride. The Devils will only grow from this season. Next year might be a little difficult because they won’t sneak up on anyone but this young talented team will overcome it. I see a deep playoff run next year and raising the Cup in the near future. Experience, health, consistent offense, defense, and goaltending…what was supposed to be MAYBE a wild card season…can't wait for next season
