Worst part of this series loss is that at no point did anyone on the Leafs even appear to get angry. I didn’t see any emotion at all.

Aside from all the usual talking points, something that wasn’t nearly talked about enough was that aside from Rielly we pretty much had no offence from the defence. In this series alone Florida got goals from Ekblad, Montour, and Forsling. Think of all those chances to shoot when it was on the stick of Holl, Schenn, or McCabe and nothing would ever materialize.
Edit: Since I guess I didn’t make my point clear enough. **Yes the core four were not good enough and they should take most of the blame.** I’m just simply pointing out ASIDE from that there was a serious lack of offensive contribution from our blueline. And yes I’m aware the guys I mentioned aren’t there for offence. THAT’S MY POINT! Is that Rielly is literally the only defenceman we have that can contribute anything offensively.

I’m hoping we can acquire some goal scorers before next playoffs. We could have really used some of those for these playoffs.
Done with the core wouldn’t bat an eye if they got rid of guys..you can make the playoffs without 90 pt players. So what good is it when they don’t show up when it matters.

As an Avs fan…..I’m appalled by this game.
The refs turned it from a hockey game into a clown show. An argument can be made that you should’ve won games 1, 2, or 3, but it’s hard to do that when the refs hate you.

Matthews is becoming known as somebody who just cannot perform when it counts. Just absolute failure. I get he’s not McDavid, but 0 goals in 5 games is absolutely unacceptable.

This shit was way more blatant than the pick Holl ran last year against TBL. At least with Holl, you can argue he’s stupid enough to actually set that pick up by accident.
You don’t accidentally grab onto the defender’s stick and render them useless on the play.

This will get buried, but I just don’t know how many times you can run back this same core and expect something different? Dubas does a good to fantastic job adding pieces around those giant contracts every year. But all that money and skill, just isn’t taking over for playoff success. Trading Matthews, Mitch, or JT sounds like absolutely insanity. Keeping them also sounds like absolute insanity. And I just don’t friggin’ know. After so many years, how can you think this will suddenly work? I mean it could sure, but why would you believe that now it finally will? They’ve got to at least ditch Keefe, but I just don’t know how trading one of the 10+ guys plays out practically.
This has gotta be the off-season where changes are made…I hope dubas is back but he’s gotta shake something up with the big 4. Nylander is easiest to move but I wouldn’t trade him and can’t move Tavares…so I think marners the odd man out.

We can bash the refs for all the shitty calls and letting Florida play dirty. Maybe it would have changed the outcome, maybe not.
But it ultimately shouldn’t matter, because we never should have been in these situations in the first place. This was a WC2 lunchbucket team. We have several of the top goal scorers in the league. These should have been 4 and 5 goal games, even with Bob being on fire. Nylander gets a B+ and the rest get a big fat F for that non effort. And Keefe gets an F minus
Sure, they double teamed Matthews every chance they got. So stack line 1 Keefe: they can’t double team everyone.

A few things that have become clear to me as I’ve watched the leafs this post season.
1. Keefe is not capable of couching this team to a Stanley Cup.
2. We have the worst “superstars” in the league. Matthews and Marner are incapable of carrying this team the same way that other guys on their skill level can. You watch an oilers game and McDavid and Draisaitl are the two best players on the ice night in and night out. Matthews and Marner go from world beating monsters to invisible from one game to the other.
3. If Dubas’ response is to make the same small adjustments and run it back for the eighth year in a row he is out of his mind and should be out of a job
