  1. Not sure how this makes Edmonton much better. They brought in a player who is more expensive and brings less offence to the table. They gave up Tyson Barrie, last year's 1st, this year's 1st and a 4th. They have 0 cap space.

This can't be anywhere close to make McJesus happy enough. Barrie and McJesus had great chemistry. And they have sacrificed serious future assets. I think when the McDavid contract is up — he is gone gone gone. A very Ken Holland trade and we all know how he left Detroit in serious ruins. They are just about digging their way out of that mess now.

    CLEAR WIN FOR PREDS.

  2. Edmonton didn't need Offence! Its defense they need! Barrie a good QB on the powerplay but defense sucks! Preds will flip Barrie!

  3. A touch overpay. I love Ekholm's defensive game, as I'm sure many in here do. However, a first round prospect, AND a first round pick? I think one would've been acceptable, both, is not. At least, not to me.

If there had been some heavy salary retention, I would've been far more accepting of the two first candidates. Ekholm is finishing the 1st year, in a 4 year deal. If NSH had held even 25% salary, instead of 4%, the draft pick and prospect would have been far more understandable.

  4. I don't think it really matters who won/lost this trade. Both teams got what they needed. It's a win-win in my opinion
