Its a very dangerous hit coming in with full speed with hip to the head of a player who is vulnerable AND driving through the head of the player being hit. OF COURSE it is a PENALTY.
Keep your head up, this isn't Peewee hockey. Plus the guy turned his feet and slowed down before the hit, so its not like he charged either! Clean hit all the way.
Gorgeous hip check. Nothing dirty here. He threw the hip to avoid running into Hischier's head. He coasted into the hit too because he saw Hishier's head was down and took it down a notch. No skating through the hit, aiming low to avoid bad contact. Textbook. If more guys hit like Kotkaniemi there would be much less injury in the NHL
The only penalty should be on the entire devils roster for not standing up for their captain. Just like when meier got laid out against rangers. 7 game series… gotta stand up for you teammates at some point
Devils made a living at this in prior decades always eliminating the best player on other team by design to win their cups . I think everyone should go for hischier and Meir head along with mcdavid , Mackinnon and Draisaitl . Everyone needs the Lou Gehrig and cte after they retire
First off it’s a charging call easy!! 2nd he elevated his body last second to make head contact.. should’ve at least been a double minor.. devils won’t get calls tho, if you watched the rangers series you’d know that.

Players get hit from behind looking at the puck and that’s not a smart hit.
All hits should be face to face or with a shoulder.

He launched…. hit to the head . He could have made a clean hit , his head was down his fault . He didn't need to launch.
