  1. The oilers need a #1 goalie and that would fix what ails this team. Goaltending was the major issue against Vegas.

  2. Just upgrade goaltending. That was pretty atrocious by skinner. They should have played Campbell a bit more and warmed him up for the playoffs too. Relying too much on a rookie is just not going to get you far in the playoffs. Just look at skinner performance GAA, it's not something that a winning team should have. Better goaltending; that's the obvious area for improvement.

  3. Opinion. Campbell should have been played more all season, mistake! Skinner was great but after his 2nd fall Campbell should have been their man. 5 on 5 was below the bar. I don't like parts of the Oilers systems at all. A more experienced coach would have made many small effective moves. The Oilers were NOT good enough on defense. Offence wins you games defense win championships. Too much chasing and individual efforts. To win you MUST ware out the other team with more puck movement and less skating .They have the team to win it but were out coached.

  4. Everybody is laughin at canada today. 30 years since a canadian team has won the cup. lets keep it goin !

  5. Edmonton's team defense doesn't exist. You will never win a Stanley Cup trying to win every game 7-6 with a 50% powerplay. There are too many complete teams in the league that you simply can't get by playing like that. Honestly I bet the Oilers would win the cup instantly with Darryl Sutter behind the bench. You take a team with 281pts between 2 players and teach them to play structured defense? That would be unbeatable.

  6. Instead of comparing the Oilers with the Leafs, it maybe more accurate to compare the Oilers with the Bruins. Both were embarrassed. With 3 players above 100 points, the Oilers could not at least extend Vegas to 7? Embarrassing. The top power play in history and they cannot dominate a rival? Embarrassing. The problem with Spector is that he doesn't see the aging of RNH, Hyman and Kane. Other teams have players that are beginning to take over and are 5-7 years younger. Sorry. The embarrassment of not at least making it to the conference finals makes me as a GM do more than tweaking. Yam gone. Seek to move Kane, RNH and Hyman for younger players who will be able to track with what is happening in Dallas, Seattle, Florida and Carolina. Oddly, those are 4 of the final 5.

  7. Oilers need to trade Campbell and get a proven starting goalie! Skinner was not up to the job. He may be a future starter but he isn’t there yet. Skinner had his shot and he was ass.

  8. Get one last winger for the top 2. Get rid of Yamo in order to do so. Then run it back. They’re a solid team with a good goalie tandem.

  9. How about a new commissioner a new sheep other then parros.. and some reffering on a consistent basis . That too much to ask ???

  10. The Oilers are amazing to watch, grinding it out on the ice. They will be in the play offs next season. Hold your heads high and most of all, be proud of yourselves. Great job !

  11. This is the same Oilers team from last playoffs, no real additions have solved the problem. Unfortunately Woodcroft didn't learn anything from playing the Avs, to build from. Defense especially Nurse. My opinion Woodcroft is inexperienced and it shows with his lines on the ice. Again he got out-coached. Let's hope the Oilers do something in the off-season. Don't know what they can do with the Cap and also Nurse contract, no other team will touch that.

  12. I would work on putting more depth in the defense. And let Campbell have a chance to earn his play…

  13. Skinner was pretty bad in both series, yet Woodcroft would not give Campbell a start. Maurice didn't make that mistake and went back to his expensive and experienced goalie.

  14. It'll be an interesting off season for a lot of guys…put in the work while you can and see what happens !
One things for certain, nothing that comes out of Specs mouth is worth listening to. End of the day, some guys were a half step behind more than others, and it lead to pucks in our net. "Timely goals and timely saves" as per Bruce Cassidy's post game 6 presser is just a fancy way to say "we got lucky that the other team just didn't show up as much as we did in 4 of the 6 games"

We only have to wait 3 weeks longer than we had to last year for the new season to start ! Forever the Oil !

  15. Need to get one more smart defenceman and replace Yamamoto with more size with someone that can skate and score

  16. how would gustav nyquist look on the oliers? hes a free agent this summer nyquist mcdavid kane would be a pretty good line

  17. Winning is winning, losing is losing. They lost and therefore something has to change. Can’t just say oh well this was good enough. And who cares who they lost to? They may have to deal with this same team next season! What then? Hope they same outfit is better then? GTFOH…

  18. Hey Radio Free Stouffville, why are some folks talking about 'tweaking" the Oilers while telling the Leafs to take it all apart? Edmonton won exactly 1 more game than Toronto and THAT was down to crappy refereeing, and S Bobrovsky….mostly.

  19. DEFENSE. My lord they suck on the back end. Beyond that decide if they're doing with Campbell cause if you're paying the guy 5m/yr you need to play him or trade him.

  20. Next year will be Woody's year to shine. Coaching will be critical. Cleaning up the defensive structure and assignments…they have the players, just everyone needs to be clear what to do, and what system they will play. Coaching two 'tenders with poor confidence, to make them into .900+ consistent. Step up WOODY, your time has come….gather a support team, and make it happen…it will not be an option to lose next year.

  21. Put some money into two kick*** goalies. You already have McD and Driasitl, you don't need to add to your offensive, when the Oilers win they usually win with 4-6 goals, but when they lose it's usually by 2-3 goals, and the last line of defense is a goalie… STOP looking for forwards and find, train, buy, etc. two top shelf caliber goalies!

  22. Wow….im mostly agreeing with everything mark spector is saying….what is the world coming to?
