The bids are in! It’s reported that four final bids were made to purchase the Ottawa Senators, so now we wait.
Brandon Piller and Ross Levitan discuss the different option for potential owners. Michael Andlauer group, Neko Sparks group, the Kimels and Steve Apostolopolous all made their final bids. Once a new owner is chosen, the next biggest concern is how will they handle Alex DeBrincat’s contract? We debate what the options are and how high we think his cap hit could be. And finally the final four teams are set in the NHL playoffs for the Eastern and Western conference finals. The Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights remain. We give our thoughts and prediction on those series and Stanley Cup winners.

Road to 800 episodes going strong – congrats on another great season with the pod!
Something fishy about Neko Sparks… Just a google search of his name raises so many red flags. Saw a great reddit post on this and there's something odd about that group. I like all of the things they're saying but something is off about Sparks.
Carolina in 5 and Dallas in 5
I like your idea of trading Alex to Nashville for Saros. Another option might be Anaheim for Gibson
Vegas is about 0.4 degrees further north than Raleigh.
I would offer the cat 3×8 million
The Cat has to be signed long term to get the AAV down or be traded. If he wants more than $8 million, get rid of him. If he wants to stay, I hope he understands how much his deal will affect the quality of the team around him.
Vegas is one degree latitude north of Raleigh – Stone repping the North!
Not only it's a random final four it's ones that either relocated from the North or expansion. This is weird quartet.
Sign debrincat to 2 years at 8 mil per year with the understanding that if he earns a raise in those 2 years then he'll get one when Giroux retires and that money is freed up
A Big developer may get the team to develop the property, and leave the team as a sideline…
The Neko Sparks bid seems sketchy to me. It doesn't seem like they are interested in running an NHL hockey team or building an arena or real estate in Ottawa/Canada. And I don't see how he could fund this purchase. I guess he must have investors, but who? Everything I see says he's worth a few million dollars, nowhere near $900M
It looks like he made a bit of money from Crypto (of course), and is trying to get into (of course) Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Reality, etc.and says good things (bringing hockey to black youth, and including some indigenous ownership). But is this guy for real? Looking at his IMDB, I've never heard of the (few) productions he's been involved in, or any of the actors in those. Looking at his LinkedIn, it doesn't seem like his companies have been very successful. What does he actually bring to the table, other than maybe being buds with Snoop?
Anyone other than the Neko Sparks group. They all seem to be in it for personal publicity and do not have the team and city as priorities
And based on how this team is structured salary wise theres no reason for the Cat to make over 8 mil aav. He's a second line winger at the end of the day
So, adding Stutzle, Debrincat – 1 yr, Norris, Giroux, Batherson, Tkachuk, Chabot, Zub and Chychrun gets you 62.18 mill. So as for the rest of the team, they're going to have to split 20 mil or so. Forget the 5 mill goalies, you can't afford them. No more big dollar contracts period, including goalies. if you want any reasonable depth players, their not working for free. If you want to sign Sanderson within a year with Debrincat's 9 mil, then you understand, you're working around 20 mil or so.
u keep dropping names, this time a 6.1 mill goalie. U still don't get it. U hit Cap Limit. U overspent. U couldn't stay within a budget. That's it. What do you do now? Do you trade Stutzle? Do you trade Tkachuk? to be able to supply your team with defensemen to carry you into the playoffs (ex. in case of Cernak injury)? Who are you trading to stay within budget? maybe that's the better question. Use a calculator. I got it, why not sign or trade Debrincat for Vasilevsky or Bobrovsky, because apparently, it means the same amount??
