When he was hired the hockey wise people seemed to be underwhelmed. If I am correct he had not made the playoffs as a coach. Anybody want to opine about what changed? Was it Ron Francis? Just a coach learning and getting better? Getting a team he wanted for his style of play?
I like him and hope for a ton of success in the future for him and the team.

He’s like a robot borg, but he showed more passion and personality this year. He also did an excellent job with this team and not panicking like some of us were. Great job Coach Hakstol.

I was a big Flames fan before the Kraken were a thing and one of the biggest positives about the team and I’m assuming Hakstol’s influence is huge here is the ability to rebound from poor situations. The Flames teams I used to watch would crumble at any adversity. The Kraken? They keep fighting all the time and you really saw it in the playoffs. I’m not well minded enough in hockey to know the strategy of coaching and if he is any good there, but I love what the team has done under him and I hope they keep going in that direction.

Year 1 was not so great, understandable, but super frustrating from a coaching and front office perspective, which didn’t need to be the case. Year 2, they looked at their flaws and addressed them in smart long-term ways.

Have to admit us starting season 1-2-1 I was definitely on the fire hakstol camp but am happy I was wrong. I think as a coach he has improved and win his first NHL playoff series EVER. He deserves some votes for coach of the year too. I hope he brings us a Cup one day this town will go nuts. Great job this year coach now rest and let’s go get that championship for the Kraken

Maybe in the off season he can attend the Sweet Lue School For Keeping Cool. Those bench outbursts were a little over the top.
