  1. Is there any playoff team that picks up Quick from Columbus for a dept goalie in the playoffs?

  2. Kings now have….
    Korpisalo
    Kopitar
    Kaliyev
    Kempe
    Kupari
    Klarke
    Kopley
    …and just traded Kwik

  3. Smart move to get the young guys on LA a chance at some deeper playoff experience. They have the dudes for the future and if they learn through going on a deeper run this year it will make such a difference when the mantle eventually has to change from guys like Kopitar and Doughty later on. I’m not sure if they’re up to the task of dealing with Vegas or Colorado but the West is so wide open now I understand why they’re making this move.

  4. One thing I dont get is 'why Quick?' from CBJ pov? What does he bring them? Did they just need a goalie to replace Korpisalo? Why not push for a more long term asset? Or was it that Kings needed to clear a goalie?

  5. As a jackets fan love korpi and Elvis but of the 2 korpi was better and I wish him the best and hope he gets a cup in the near future

  6. So what matters more to kings fans: having a better team for the playoffs or keeping quick for fan and player service? I know what matters most to ownership…

  7. The disrespect to Quick. Scumbag move by the team up the road. Quick is a HOF deserved to Finnish his career in LA.

  8. What is Kekäläinen up too ?
Is he going to keep Quick or trade him ?
I wish he would trade Laine to Carolina, for Kotkaniemi + 2023 + 2024 1 round picks

Just beacause I would love to see Laine – Aho – Puljujärvi together once again. 😍😍

  9. Kori, all the best and thanks for sporting a beard and mustache this year. Gavrikov make the most of this move as possible. Elvis will need to up his game big time as Quick will Quickly move on from Columbus. Still hoping the CBJ will receive one of the top three players in the upcoming daft.

  10. I get the “kings did quick dirty” opinion, but this isn’t a lottery team just looking to give their legends a farewell tour. They’re tied for 1st in the west, and this is an improvement for them. This is nothing compared to what the Football Giants did to Eli Manning I can guarantee that 😂

  11. This is truly a bittersweet moment for us Kings fans. We got better, but we lost a beloved hero in the process. Thank you Shannon for the update. You're the best on YouTube by far…

  12. As a Kings fan I hate to see Quick traded, but I think this may help the team especially if they can sign Korpisalo long term. Otherwise those are expensive rentals

  13. So, at the end of the year, the goalies are a wash. I suppose, if LA felt Korpisalo would give them a better chance at winning a cup this year, then it would be a good deal. But I don't think LA is just a goalie and d-man away from even a conference championship, let alone a cup win. Long term (?), they gave up a 1st Round and 3rd Round pick for Gavrikov. Maybe Korpisalo decides LA is the place to be and signs a long term deal. Might be a thing to consider. But I would find it hard to give up a 1st and 3rd not knowing if that will happen.

  14. Trading Quick feels like an end of an era type moment. He’s been on the team for as long as I can remember. Seems kinda unceremonious to trade him. But I guess if it works out, it works out.

  15. Well not to disrespect Kings fans and I can understand why Quick would be upset about the trade. But even if Korpisalo is just slightly better than Quick, I don’t see this as being the answer between the pipes to give the Kings much of a chance to see a western conference final. Kings season ends in Round 1 or Round 2 I’m predicting

  16. How on earth can the kings do this to our mvp of those 2 cup runs. This is insanity
Somehow we keep shawn walker whos -10 differential and repeatedly leaves his goalies out to dry with his terrible play. Quick deserved better this is unreal.

  17. Disappointing! Yeah, we got better, but I always thought Quick, Brown, Kopitar and Doughty would be life-long Kings. Blake screwed us by signing Petersen to a contract he hadn't earned. We are paying an AHL goalie 5 mil a year. Now we are stuck with him for two more seasons and Quick is gone. Quickie deserved better. They had better give him a special night and raise his jersey up on the wall when he retires or a lot of Kings fans are going to be piffed.

  18. As a Kings fan this is heartbreaking, I've been a Kings fan all my adult life and a Quick fan from his first year. The best case scenario is that looking back people will think of it as a bittersweet neccessity, but the worst case? Oh my lord it could be brutal. Wish Quickie and his family all the best, they deserve nothing less.

  19. Yeah understand the teams anger on the Quick trade however we have been harping all year on the Kings lack of Goaltending… Yeah was probably uncomfortable plane ride home however this trade probably came together quickly since we are getting down to the wire…and a lot of fans have been angry about players being held out ahead of potential trades. This is another reason why it can be the right choice to avoid awkward situations. The GM is a boss and often needs to make unpopular moves but had they stood pat do we really think the Kings were going anywhere? Korpisalo probably was the best Goalie that they could make a move for not many teams are rich at the position…I would have tried for Gibson but would the Ducks trade to a cross town rival…not likely.

  20. I am 99% sure Columbus is going to flip Quick and trade him to another team. Trading and keeping Quick makes zero sense for them. If you argue Columbus is re-building trading for Quick who is only going to be around for a month or two makes zero sense considering what Columbus gave LA. My theory is Columbus is going to trade Quick to a contender before Friday. And I am predicting by Friday we will see Quick in a Leafs uniform. Why the Leafs? Toronto have Defence to spare and I see them offering Columbus something, Justin Holl with a couple draft picks or Justin Holl and a couple of their AHL players in exchange for having Quick as insurance in case Murray gets injured again. And why do I think Quick and Agent would be open to a Toronto trade? Quick has family in Toronto. His Brother in Law Matt Moulson works in the Leafs Front Office and I could see Moulson going to Kyle and saying " My brother in law isn't to happy with his current situation. do you think we could throw an offer Columbus' way"

  21. Thanks korpi! The kings are getting a class act. No drama and he gives it everything he has. I can’t stand anything California, but I will pull for Korpi in the playoffs this year. Gavi is also top notch. Seems like a fun guy and just plays hard.

  22. It absolutely sucks to send Quick off like this, but Kings desperately need a reliable goalie to take over as starter or at least 1a/1b with Copley. What would they do with Quick if they kept him but still made a trade for Korpisalo, scratch him or send him down? Again, it sucks but it's kind of a tough situation. Also, it's not like the Kings are scratching to make the playoffs and would just be happy to get in, they're currently 2nd in Pacific and 3rd in the West. Obviously those are the weakest division/conference, but it still makes sense to push for a deep playoff run.

  23. I'm a Kings fan. I get why everyone thinks the team did Quick dirty by trading him to a non-contender. But I can guarantee you that Quick was not going to start a single playoff game this year. The Kings roster is better today than it was yesterday. Hopefully the Kings' leadership can see it that way.

  24. I would rather the Kings have added Talbot for a 3rd and got a more physical defenseman like Schenn. No sir, I don't like this trade at all. Quick should have retired at the end of the year as a King or at worst, should have gone to a playoff team. Maybe he still will. Who knows but losing another 1st and Quick was the worst thing to happen. I don't think either of those guys is the answer.

  25. Man Jarmo is hard to evaluate when Merzlikins was signed over Korpi I just idk neither are total studs but that's one that didn't age well. I'm sorry Johnny Quick might finish his career as a Jacket. It was fun having a decent hockey team here in Columbus for you know 4 seasons lol back to being a big joke

  26. Kings lost me on This Debacle. Neither Gavriov the -23 Bust who is 28 as 6th Round Draft Pick is not worth 1st round pick nor 3rd. NEither is Marginal Goalie on team when another player has save 908 pecentage. STop this Lie this guy is a solid DEfensment Shannon. The HOckey Guy likes these no talent players who don't produce. 5 goals with 30 points is not worth this trade. Chicken went for 1st rounder with a 2nd rounder then another 2nd rounder. I'll take that all day for guys with term. I'm done with Kings. Blake needs to go along with TMac for me to return. Decade of poverty. YOu don't know anytihng about HOckey. Gav will get hurt blocking a shot then walk away a Free Agent. He will Never Stay in LA or cost 3 to 5M too much.

  27. I’ve never been more devastated over a trade like this ever. Quick deserved to retire in LA.

  28. Oof for Quick – he was prolly hoping for one last ride with LA but now at 37? He'll be lucky if he even gets signed next season…

  29. I predicted Quick would be moved even though I didn't want it. Rob Blake had no choice, really. If he kept Quick and the Kings got swept in the playoffs then ownership would be looking at maybe a new GM. I couldn't see any GM taking that gamble.

As for the draft picks involved, since both Gavrikov and Korpisalo are UFA's I figure the conditions of those picks involve whether the Kings are able to re-sign them, not just playoff success.

  30. Shannon or anyone reading this:

I LOVE that Kings hat. It is a Fantactics cap (I can see the logo). I went on their website and they don't have that hat. Does anyone know where I can get that hat?

I love that Kings jersey. I have a Wayne Gretzky version one of that.

I love Quick and was shocked that he was traded. However, he isn't cutting it. That Peterson signing was a huge mistake. I wish we could have kept him somehow but we can't.

  31. Lifelong Kings fan. I don't feel like the Kings were under that big of a rush to make a move. I know Quick struggled mightily, but so did Petersen, and now Copley as well. I really think it has a ton to do with McLellan's system. He basically built San Jose 2.0 with fast starts and good early leads, followed by this slow, tortuous wear down by the opponent that leads to an eventual loss. Kings have given up something like 6 multi-goal leads. I can't shake this stat, but they said league-wide, there have only been 3 games where both teams combined for 6 goals in the 1st period, and LA was in all 3. Def needed the size on the backend, so that was great, but I don't think it's a coincidence that every goalie struggles in this system. Bummed on the Quick move, and just getting a left shot defenseman would've been the move to me. Let Quick run out the last 6 weeks, use the money in the summer to get a legit goalie. Just moved Quick, and some picks for two rentals, on a team that doesn't feel that close to being a contender. Burned the Quick bridge to try to win a round or two in a weak Pacific.
