I really wish the Oilers could have given us a few more weeks of playoff hockey to talk about. I’m the guy who always talks about how much I enjoy covering the trade deadline and the offseason because speculating about potential moves is just flat-out fun. Still, it’s disappointing to be getting into that side of things as early as we are.
This Oilers team was built to go to the Stanley Cup Final. That was the goal and ultimately, this season was a failure. Yes, you could argue that losing to the best team in the Western Conference for a second straight season isn’t the biggest shortcoming, and I do see some validity to that, but my counterpoint would be this: it’s time for the Oilers to be the best team in the West.

Honestly it was just not enough what RNH, Kane, Yama, Foeg and the depth forwards brought to the table. Maybe a shakeup is needed, as defense wasn`t great.
I would trade Yama for sure, he didn`t justify 3m cap hit. But neither did Foeg justify 2,75m.
Oilers need another shut down D or a really strong middle 6 two way center.
Not sure why McLeod would be back? Did not impress me at all this season. Yamo should go, we need the money for Bouchard and Bjugstad and Kostin. I think Kostin needs more ice time and he will be way more productive.

The only ones worth anything are McDavid and Draisaitl. Hopkins took all these years to finally put up good numbers and absolutely nothing in the playoffs. The only thing Kane did was run his mouth and take stupid penalties.
Yeah, sadly I think it's Yamo's time to go. Paired on a line with Nuge, we just get bullied too much.
I absolutely loved our Nuge Bjugstad Hyman line we rolled in LA with Kane, McDavid, Leon top line.
That leaves you with a bottom 6, and I'm taking the size and PK potential of Foeg for that role, and would love to see Kostin, McLeod, Foeg as our 3rd line.
Holloway, Ryan, and whoever we get for Yamo (or maybe a Connor Brown pickup) makes for a pretty decent lineup if you ask me.

Janmark at 1 mill is great value. Can get 10 goals, move up and down the lineup and kills penalties. Solid defensive minded forward. What's not to like?

If I was Sakic and ass, I'll offer McLeod 4m 4yrs and Kostin 2.5 1yrs since Landeskog will out for a year. Only if Avs have picks to match. They need 2C and 3C, McLeod would fill that gap, Kostin another heavy player that can check
