Edmonton Oilers Offseason Outlook

It was a tough second-round exit for the Edmonton Oilers. What’s next for Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers?

  1. Defense needs some serious fine-tuning and help, and Campbell and Skinner have to find what's required to be deep run goalies in the Playoffs. It seemed like Campbell maybe had found that gear, we'll never truly know.

  2. They will be back this team is vey close. They don’t need to trade anyone just bring in some more depth

  3. If the Leafs and Oilers get the best defenseman like how Boston got Chara, then they will get to the cup finals. Really sad that Jake Muzzin got hurt earlier this year for the Leafs. Jake, get well soon.

  4. Oilers are still in good shape. Holland needs to part ways with some future assets and bring in the 2-3 pieces they need to put them over the top

  5. Another D man, and a new goalie coach might help. Get rid of Ceci and Yamo.

  6. How can you look at that performance and think that the Oilers aren't far off or are in a similar position as Avs were a couple years ago? The Avs have Makar and Toews for 13.1M while the Oilers have Nurse and Ceci for 12.5M. Goaltending won't save them, because it was never the real problem to begin with. They might be able to improve their defense with better coaching, but it still won't transform Nurse into a Norris trophy caliber defenseman.

  7. Of course, if Pietrangelo and Hedman are on your team, you`re better.
The Oilers have not been able to stop getting scored on. That`s what they need to fix. McD & Drai are great on the offensive, but in their own end they are not good enough.
Also the Oilers have Campbell with 5m. cap hit in the books, that`s a lot for what looks like now a backup.
    Nurse is too expensive.
And they had an issue that already should have been overcome, their 2nd line scoring was basically 0 in the Vegas series. RNH, Kane and Yamamoto – they eat 13m cap together and didn`t get their scoring going.
The Oilers in the Vegas series were again a PP, two superstars and a wobbly defense with questionable goal tending.

  8. The Oilers are 1 shutdown defenseman and 1 better goalie from winning the cup. Get rid of Ceci, Yamo, Broberg, Desharnais to free up cap space and then use a first round pick to get a shut down D man and Goalie. Get rid of Campbell. Skinner is a thrifty backup. We have 5M locked up in Campbell!

  9. Oilers would still be in it, coach made a big mistake starting Skinner, Campbell should’ve started and if he gets pulled Skinner comes in to be the hero as he did all season long, Oiler’s had a few defensive zone issues but the needed to keep the lead, imo coaching let them down.

  10. oil have no goalies .. if the oil had a competent or low tier nhl goalie they might win a cup. you cant win a cup with ahl level scrubs in goal

  11. I'm not GM expert. But this is my take.

They need one more shut down defenseman.

One more top 6 big body grinder that can score decent points and win puck battles.

And one more bottom 6 penalty killer.

    Trade:
    Ceci
    Yamamoto
    Janmark
And if they can get a LEGIT top 4 shut down Dman, then Broberg has to go as well

  12. Is skinner enough next season that’s the questions imma say this he looked daaaaaam good to me reminds me of Roloson sucks there wasn’t more game in the Vegas Edmonton series it was soooo goood
