The way I see it, the Vegas player grabbed the oilers stick and wouldn’t let go that carried them to the boards and the oiler checked him and he fell to the ice, and they were both at the puck. If anything Vegas for holding the stick penalty.
For those that think this is out of place in a hockey game and dirty and deserves a penalty should go watch figure skating instead. It will be more up your alley.
Safely? Ramming someone into the boards, leading with your stick across the unguarded part of the midsection, and pushing them backwards while preventing them from stopping themselves from falling with your leg, isn't exactly what I would call safe. Maybe you just meant safe from receiving a penalty.

He never had the puck. He was interfered with and was taken out of the play while receiving a head butt.
I don’t like the throw to the ice at the end of the check.
