  1. Marner most likely …..I don't know about that I say Nylander goes and force Tavares to go he's getting to old and slow he's still a phenomenal player but not what the Leafs need with how young and fast the team is. Nylander plays hard until it comes to the games that matter most but you can say that about all 4 of them just my opinion though

  2. Marner to Detroit, they have the extra first and a bunch of seconds….and the cap space to eat the full contract and the Leafs won't have to retain anything.

    TOR Receives.

NYI 1st Rounder (via VAN, via DET) (Pick 17)
    DET 2nd Rounder (Pick 41)
+ Perron/Kubalik (id say Perron as he might help encourage O'Riley to return as well on a team friendly contract)

    DET Receives

TOR 1st Rounder (Pick 28) (freeing up 10M in cap space over 2 season has its price)
    Mitch Marner

  3. Matthews goes to LA or Arizona (yes the Coyotes will be around next year and probably the year after. They're not leaving Arizona for awhile despite the news), Marner goes to Chicago, Anaheim, or Detroit, Tavares stays with the Leafs / will sign a new long term contract once his current one is up in two years in order to play out the rest of his career with his hometown team, and Nylander goes to either Carolina, Nashville, or Florida. Any questions?

  4. Nylander didn't come to the WC with Liljegren, so I wonder if he is healthy scratch like others before trade this season.

  5. Wild guess is, Nylander to Canes, Marner to Avs and Matthews to Coyotes. And then Coyotes move to Quebec.

  6. Im gonna laugh my ass off if leafs give up marner , moron franchise. They cant build a team and have patience, losers for ever

  7. Marner is not going anywhere, AM will sign and what about making JT waive his NTC and trade him? JT is a proud guy and wants to be wanted in a team, if the leafs approach him he may take the deal..just my2pesos.

  8. Marner to Calgary for Toffoli and Tanev or maybe Weegar , I woud have said Huby straight up but neither team goes for that lol .

  9. From a financial perspective Marner and Nylander would be best to ship out for cap space only

  10. I'd give any jets besides Connor/Morrissey for Marner
    Scheifele,Dubois,Heinola,Neidereitter,Pionk,Stanley,Barron,salomonsson,Ehlers,Demelo,Dillion,Appleton,Chisholm,Hellebuyck.
Even if it's 2 players like Hellebuyck+Ehlers/Scheifele maybe a pick or Robertson if it's alot

  11. Call me crazy, but I think i would keep Marner over Mathews! I hate that it has come to this, Marner is the more valuable player. he is the best penalty killer , maybe in the league, runs the power play and annually scores close to 100 pts. Mathews is a finisher and that is a hard commodity to come by, but Marner wanted to play for the Maple Leafs his whole life. That means something. You would get a boatload for either, but IF one has to go, it should be Mathews.

  12. I can't see any team cornering themselves with a $10.9 mil contract for a Winger, who's creative, but shys away from physical contact, and has disappeared in the Post Season more than once…..puck over glass anyone?

  13. This situation feels very similar to the Toronto Raptors in 2018, and look how that turned out. Sometimes you have to trade away your loyal and fan favorite star(s) to get to the next level. The biggest question now is there a "Kawhi" type player out there they can trade for?

  14. Rasmus Sandin with Caps , 19 games 15 points 3 goals. Why they got rid of him for Gustafson is beyond me. Sandin i always saw as a playoff type of player.

  15. I would hate for them to trade marner, he's a guy who's strived to play for the leafs, honestly should be a leaf for his career

  16. 1 core 4 = elite defensmen. Elite = Hedman, Makar, Karlssons, and so on. This is what the team is missing to be a contender. This is what the ream is missing to be a well balanced team

  17. Moving Marner is insane. He's the kinda player that every team wants. Plays most minutes, kills penalties, quarterbacks the powerplay, consistent high point performance. Not to mention you drop the guy into whatever line isn't producing to get them going. Trading him is stupid. Having said that if you had to move someone and hoped to improve the team, Mathews would be a great choice.

  18. Matthews is the most valuable and the most likely to leave of his own volition. You can't afford to get nothing for him and you can't afford to pay him $14-$15m.

  19. Marner has more trade value than Matthews he's a playoff performer… usually… sometimes lol

  20. Marner is an irresponsible player who stays on the ice too long and gets too fatigued. He makes overly risky plays that often wind up in the leafs net. Many of his points are negated therefore. He can’t compete in the playoffs. He is weak and gets pushed around. Why keep him?

  21. I know loosing hurts, however, it takes a lot to assemble players of this caliber. How many GM would salivate to have them. Obvious choice should be Tavares, but Leafs are too loyal. As unrestricted players move on, opportunity will open to get better players. In this cap world, it is hard to have top players together. Trading anyone of the top 4 is not going to get you as close a talent as what we have. They should be given one more year to see what they can do. In reality, they did make it to the second round. Until next year…

  22. Marner with out Mathews in the building could not be able to be the player that you see today, don't forget how long it took him to shoot the puck, his best thing he brings you and is still would be is the way he can pass the puck and find the open man who when Hyman was around was Mathews. Marner is mentally fragile and when he s not comfortable and isn't able to do what makes him tick and having fun again. But having to take a beating in the playoffs every year because nobody has a clue what m and m are here for more than ever neither do any of you. What is the first line missing. Look back at the Best lines of hockey players that have played the game. And take one of them out
