You don't have to think about appeasing the fans. Do the right thing for the continual building of the rebuild. Don't rush this. The only reason you would bring in some veteran skill for a year or 2 like when the Hawks brought in Robert Lang and Havlat Kane/Toews rookie year is to help Bedard.

Nobody is mentioning they also have the 19th pick in a DEEP draft.
Let me tell you I've been to 15 Regina pats games this season and as soon as Bedard has the puck you have that feeling that something spectacular can happen. It's the same feeling when McDavid has the puck. The UC is going to be on fire watching this phenom.
Connor Bedard Is The New Number 20 In The Indian Head
The first thing that Kyle Davidson should do since the Hawks won the Bedard sweepstakes is to call up Jonathan Toews, apologize for dumping him in the trash bin, and sign him for at least 2 more years. If you really want Bedard to become the superstar he is meant to be, you need the proven leadership of Toews to plant the seed of success. Toews is a bona fide winner and one of the greatest Blackhawks ever to wear the Hawks jersey (despite Davidson's lack of understanding of how important Toews is!). Who else to pass the baton onto Bedard and another run at a bunch of Cups. Davidson almost blew it with the lottery and lets make sure he does not jeopardize Bedard's career in Chicago. I have no real confidence that Davidson is the right person for the GM position and there needs to be a concerted effort to make sure Connor Bedard is provided the wisdom, hard work and tenacity that Toews brought every night as a Blackhawk!
Wow 8 picks in the first 2 rounds with the 2nd round guys that would be first rounders in most drafts the future is bright in Chicago I wouldn’t trade any picks based on the potential
