Dubas stated in his interview "It seriously affected his family, that he has to give it some thought" first. Later he retracted and said "he doesn't want to go anywhere else" after the fact. That in itself casted doubt with the owners or at least shanny. It's technically not wrong for what Shanny did and who truly knows the real answer to this. Kyle came back with a much higher request monetarily. Maybe asking for more money than they can afford could be the reason. I wouldnt go as far as blaming one sidedly. There's many reasons to why decisions are made. I will miss Kyle.. he was the moneyball of hockey. I wouldnt doubt that Kyle will be the next GM for the penguins. Really media is all propaganda. People can say anything they want and clearly u are all eatting it up. I see this for what it is… Kyle wasn't getting the job done. He tried hard and credit is due… time for another GM to see what they can do. Good Luck to Kyle!

the biggest mistake dubas made was signing captain donkey. he was NOT what we needed at the time. and 5 years later, we are still where we were at the time of the signing. dubas really handcuffed himslf with that stupid contract.

Sounds to me like Dubas wanted more cash and or term or authority to put up with this team that did not show up really in either round.of these playoffs. Maybe Shanny was making all the decisions and Kyle wanted to do that, or he wanted a 5 year term and they offered one or three. Who knows. What I do know is that I'm tired of listening to either of them for 5 or 25 minutes and hear them say virtually nothing. They belong in politics the way they move their mouths and nothing comes out. Their commentary puts you to sleep as does those of the top 4. Might as well use that new AI software to write their speaches.

The board of directors of MSLE are complete idiots and they too should be fired and replaced by the shareholders of MLSE for leaving Shannahan in place. These shareholders are complete fools and are divorced from reality and should not own a hockey team. We the people should call for the majority shareholder owners to sell the team to someone who gives shit. Seriously, what idiot would bring in a AHL General Manager to manage an NHL team and his move is to bring in his coach of the Marlees with no NHL experience? From ownership to executive management to coaching, there all incompetent and out of touch.
Shanahan has to go. This teams current situation is just as much on his hands. Guy literally hides all year unless it's a positive PR moment.
