  1. Fire this guy. All this for a non Stanley Cup winning GM. Whole org cares only about feelings. Soft on and off the ice.

  2. When they doled out Superstar money for players who DID NOT & HAD NOT WON ANYTHING . That was their demise. Players who DID NOT have ANY play off success . That means at least get 2 the conference finals……. Bergeron can get them 2 a cup final—hes crafty…….

  3. The whole time Dubas was GM he never ONCE tried to improve the D via getting a true #1 defenceman. Proof of that was the Leafs were the 2nd worse team in the NHL for turnovers in their own end. Moving forward look at the 4 teams in the semis now. All have very good D. That’s just one of his many screw ups during his tenure. There were a lot more, and the coup de gras was trading for a goalie who played 47 games in 2 years for the Sens.

  4. Gutless decision by Shanahan. Firing Dubas because he took time to talk to his family and because his agent asked for more money is absurd.

  5. WE WOULD HAVE WON THE CUP LAST YEAR IF WE HAD KEPT LOU LAMORIELLO BUT SHANAHAN WAS WORRIED THAT LOU WOULD TAKE HIS JOB. SHAME ON SHANAHAN.

  6. just a bunch of corporate garbage, when is someone over there going to be accountable to the lack of performance, and why can't you call individuals out? shanny is a bum

  7. To be fair to Shanahan,I would not want someone who is not 100% sure about being the gm either.
Should have stayed with Lou as gm.He would not have given out no trade clauses like they’re candy to the core players.
And please,no first time gm.We need an experienced gm!

  8. so let me get this straight: Kyle Dubas is with this team for 9 years. he brings the Maple Leafs out of obscurity and last place finishes, putting together and signing a core that on paper, were potential stanley cup contenders. he brings a massive amount of revenue and buzz to the maple leafs, buzz that they haven’t gotten in years. he reinvigorates the fan base with hope, hope they haven’t felt in a while. he does quite literally everything he can to get this team over the hump, and the team then proceeds to shit the act fucking bed, year in and year out, only getting one playoff series victory in 6 years. and for whatever reason, because he asked for more money, he cannot get a new contract. delete this franchise. brendan shanahan has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. their window has probably slammed shut.

  9. I have been on the Boards of many Public companies in Canada TSE and NASDAQ. If I was on the Board of MLSE I would have fired Shanahan long long time ago.

  10. It’s only hard on your families if you are losers. And you have not been anything but LOSERS…..

  11. What is this guy jabbering about. Feeling pressures of the job? That's the job and you're paid friggin millions of dollars as players, coach, GM, CEO so you all can retire now if you want.

  12. As far as I’m concerned Dubas was the only person doing his job, not his fault these players go limp when the game gets tougher.

  13. What a joke of an organization. Dubas should have been fired the next day. No wonder they’re losers.

  14. Hard on their families!!! What a bunch of losers. Talk to the poor slug grinding it out for 12 hours on an assembly line with the wife at home taking care of 4 kids. Scumbags. These people are sick in the head to even have the nuts to say such sickening things.

  15. Shanahans been on the job for 12 years and still doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. Fire him too

  16. Holy moly, so he wins 1 series in 9 years, still gets extended an offer, but doesn't appreciate how lucky he is and demands more? I honestly liked Kyle but after hearing this, I'm glad he's gone.

  17. Aren't these people and their families compensated more than enough for the job they do? It's their choice to do that particular job, if it's too hard then don't be the GM, President, coach, players etc. What about the towel men, the giving hockey sticks to players men, the water bottle men, is it too hard on them and their families too? LEAVE, stop crying about your so "difficult" situation, men, grow up and act your age not your shoe size.

  18. I wonder what marners, willies and matthews second contracts would look like if Lou lamerelo was still GM.
    Marner: I want 10.5 million
Lou: show me your Stanley cup ring

  19. Keefe is the issue……..Fbomb him outta here………Shanny, to be fair, you should fire yourself and then rehire yourself………fresh start, its the right thing to do!

  20. So, if I understand the substance of that press conference by Shanascam, Dubas wasn't dismissed based upon the body of his sub-standard, and disastrous work, but because he wanted MORE MONEY?!? Are you kidding me??? After watching that, I have to wonder why it is that Shanascam is still here?!? However, IMHO, the real cancer in the organization and the rot in the culture is due to the corporate logo that was pictured beside the Leafs logo in that press conference!

  21. Haha 25 minutes to tell us that Dubas wanted more money and Shanny said no. The truth comes out.

  22. Dubas is too loyal, to the core 4 and to Murray as examples. He will learn more about business as he gets older. He should take over the yotes and make them a contender (wherever they end up) as any job in the NHL is going to be easier than the one he just had.

I don't think it was solely about money, I think shan got a bad taste in his mouth when dubas went public and tried to use the press as a negotiating tactic.

Dubas would give up any asking price, including picks 6 and 12 for Matthews (and Tavares if he can get him) and I think TO should take him up on that, sometimes you can make additions through subtractions (especially considering the financial situation TO is currently in).

  23. Shanahan mentioned that he believes that the GM is supposed to do everything he can to make the team better, I disagree, all trading away first round draft picks does is shorten your window instead of fostering a sustainable winning culture and having players buy into that mentality when they sign team friendly contracts (as boston, whom I hate, have done over the last 13 or so years.
