Shanhan was super unprofessional with the way this went down. Leafs gonna leaf.
I think Shanahan should be fired also. Remember Dubas was his guy…In the next 5 weeks someone has a lot of deals to be made with core players, 5 weeks!!!! You don't fire a main player without someone ready to take control. Dumb move, but it's the Leafs .

Shanahan is a dirt bag for pulling that stunt' who would want to work with this asshat. Same time it is hard to believe that Dubas wanted a raise after the Leaf fan are calling for heads to roll. The way Dubas treated this negotiation shows he is not sharp enough, we are paying for it now with these anchor contracts with Marner, Tavares, and Mathews.
This is dumb. It doesn't seem as if there was a plan in place bc how does it come down to him talking to the press?
Need to trade Mathews that prima donna thinks he is unreplaceable he tried to run the show over there and Dubas let him
Bottom line he built a record breaking team year after. Despite their playoffs success or failure he deserved a contract and a raise.

Shanahan realized he made a big mistake getting dubas, now he should lose his job
Dubas is the new era of GM's, he will get paid and be appreciated elsewhere. If you ask me, Shanahan should have been booted.

Full rebuild incoming, Dubas and Keefe treated their players like queens and they'll pack up and leave once the new guys try to shake things up
That press conference was just an example of his youth/inexperience. He thought he could get away with telling the press how he truly felt and it backfired on him. Dubas was a good GM. He'll be back, and he'll be better for this experience. The man is only 37 years old. Hell, Lou Lamoriello has underwear older than that.
My understanding is that he told them he needed to talk it over with his family, and they thought that was just a formality, whereas he actually meant it. But we’re fans, so our loyalties and therefore rationalizations will almost always support those who remain and blame the one who is no longer here.
Well sure is going to be an interesting off season…

Please…enough with it’s about what he said at the presser, the bottom line is, he failed to win more than 1 post season series in five years GM. If this was Boston, would he have lasted that long? Not a chance. He built a great regular season team, but he also built a post season ghost team. Simply not good enough and that’s why he’s gone.
