  1. Need my sens to fire Dorkon…and get Dubas and Spezza back in sens black and red..let's go…make it happen Snoop 💯 be awesome to see an all black ownership in NHL… four cities want teams…buttman smells the money…it's.going to happen watch…it's all bout money..

  2. I'm absolutely not a Dubas fan for various reasons but I've got little faith that his replacement would be any better.
There's that little thought in the back of my mind saying, "Stick with what you know".
Let's hope that Shanahan brings in the right people, that a great team with heart and real drive is created over the coming decade.
I don't want superstars that underperform for the big bucks, I want a team that plays good hockey night in night out.

  3. Whalers is a shit name in the modern era. Who wants to hunt endangered sea mammals nowadays besides the Japanese?

  4. There’s even less of a chance of the Whalers coming back than the Nordiques, but I respect the chutzpah Gov. Lamont has in shooting his shot

  5. I hope the Toronto brass don't listen to the media. Keep the core together. Bostons core is retiring and tampa is getting cap crunched. There is a changing of the guard; and blowing it up may be rash just because slimy beat writers who want clicks are churning up the perpetual leafs discontent cashcow

  6. “I already have the magnets and the jerseys……”. Well then, what are we waiting for? Hilarious! 😂

  7. TOR is as big a soap opera as any team in pro sports. Hard to believe that they are more inept than the NYR even though they have won more cups in their history. I have been a NYR fan since 1966 & at least they've played for the Cup 3 times in my lifetime. I couldn't imagine rooting for TOR since 1967 & NOT watching them play for the SC once since then.

  8. Stan Bowman reminds me of Pres./GM Neil Smith of the NYR in the early to mid 90's. Smith made the bold moves to get Messier & several other EDM castoffs to finally win a Cup in '94 only to start tinkering & trading away key players ( like future HOF er S. Zubov ) which started to weaken the team. Bowman slowly but surely did the same thing after the 3rd SC which brought them to their present state. But cheer up CHI fans, C. Bedard is on the way & maybe the dark clouds will lighten up. BTW, I'm going on the record that Bedard will probably be very very good but NOT the second coming of C. McDavid..

  9. TOR & NYR should realize that guys like Marner & Panarin may not be able to perform well enough in the playoffs ( maybe Matthews also ) to get them where they think they want to go. Puzzling really but I think they have enough evidence to convince me. IMO, Panarin should only get one more playoff yr. , IF they even make the playoffs next yr. to produce enough to justify his contract. If he doesn't have a productive season, that might be enough for me to think it's time to part w/him. Ditto for Trouba – overpaid by 1.5 to 2M

  10. Amazing how FLA is playing defensively & it's karma that Bobrovsky is finally doing what they overpaid him to do. Have to give Maurice credit even though I have dunked on him on this site as being a mediocre coach. Obviously FLA hired him to improve them defensively & it finally seems to be coming to fruition at the tail end of the season into the playoffs. I had a hunch they would give BOS all they could handle & they did it. Didn't think it would carry over to TOR- thought if TOR broke through into the 2nd rd, they would go on a deep run but FLA smothered them . Now I think FLA has more offensive firepower than CAR (because of CAR's injuries) & if they continue to play well in their own end, there will be another Florida team playing for the Cup for the 4th year straight.

  11. I do really like Whalers merch/jerseys. Id be cool with a return even though its not ever going to happen

  12. I do really like Whalers merch/jerseys. Id be cool with a return even though its not ever going to happen

  13. if the governor wants to bring back a team to hartford, that arena is getting built.

  14. You're semi right on Dubas if you listen to Shanahans presser he says they had a deal in place that was agreed on. Dubas then goes out and does his presser and uses the family thing which may be somewhat true but I doubt it but he uses that as a negotiating tactic after t hey already had an agreement in place. Dubas agent then calls Shanahan, Shanahan even said the call was brief, which you can put 2 and 2 together and know it was to talk about renegotiating what they had already agreed on. Dubas then emails Shanahan and says he wants the job, this all happens after Dubas press conf by the way. Shanahan meets w/him and says your out. It was the going back on the agreed new contract that caused him to get fired but they don't want to actually say that but he did more or less if you listen to what Shanahan says. It was one of those he is saying it w/o saying it type things. Bottom line Dubas over played his hand and Shanahan had enough with it or may be even someone above Shanahan made the call. The family thing while maybe a little true was more part of the renegotiating tactic which is why Dubas wanted to do his presser so quick. When Shanahan made the call w/Dubas agent pretty fast Dubas knew he needed to let Shanahan know he really wanted the job but his tactic didn't work.

  15. The civic center is still in downtown Hartford and is big enough imo . I used to go to WCW shows there in the 90s/00s. I would love to see Que,Har,KC and another Western team to be added

  16. The Mississauga(ON) Coyotes. Mississauga will officially separate from Toronto & become it's own city in the next 2 to 3 years.

  17. It seemed like there was some tension between them. Who doesn't just call Shanahan and talk to him. Instead, Kyle emails him that he wants the job and a bump in pay on the contract he was offered. I don't know why you don't sit down with Shanahan man to man and talk about the contract and the job. Instead, Kyle ghosts him and then reaches out by his agent and later by email…..seems strange to me since they have worked together for so long.

  18. People from the Sparks bid also talked with the first nations group that claims LeBreton Flats and a large part of downtown Ottawa. They're doing everything right but the franchise will be sold to the highest bidder.

  19. NO CHANCE of the Whalers (or any other pro team for that matter) ever going into New England. That region is owned lock stock and barrel by the Boston teams and to a limited extant the NY teams. The Rangers and Bruins and Islanders have too much pull with the league and Bettman actually has to listen those teams.

  20. Dubas' press conference, and suddenly asking for more money, were huge red flags. The thing about it is that Dubas didn't have to do any of that if he wanted out. He could have just said the niceties at the Press Conference, or not addressed the Media at all like Shanahan told him, and just told Shanahan that "I think it's time for me to move on, so I respectfully decline your offer." Now, he just looks like a whiny, greedy, baby, instead of someone making a well thought out career decision. The way Dubas handled that situation would make me Very hesitant to hire him as a GM. Honestly, I don't think he's a GM. He's a President of Hockey Ops guy. He takes care of his players and creates a good culture, but he can't run a team the way it needs to be run as a GM.

  21. I see that MLS just expanded to San Diego this week. The new owners paid $500 million. So whats the price tag for a brand new NHL team then? $1 billion? $1.5 billion?
