Elliotte Friedman on the leafs situation, he also said the leafs are looking for a gm that has some “bite” and isn’t afraid to make decisions, he also states that matthews is unlikely to sign before July 1st
He is under contract until June 30th. So yes they need permission.

Also interesting is that Dubas was leading management meetings about changes he wanted to implement next year.
So you can see why Shanahan may have been blindsided by Dubas announcing publicly he wasn’t sure if he wanted to come back and making unrealistic demands afterwards.
No one is signing any contracts until we have a GM. Once they’re in and they have a chance to take in the landscape and make a plan we’ll start seeing signings.

From what I have heard he can’t resign until July 1. Which sucks because if he doesn’t his NMC kicks in July 1.

If he leaves it just proves it’s all about money and celebrity status opposed to legacy. You can be a hero but let’s leave because a GM got let go
